How can holistic health help improve life expectancy?

In the U.S., life expectancy rose steadily over decades from just 47.3 years at the beginning of the 20th century to 78.9 years in 2014. Since then, life expectancy has fallen to 76.1 years in 2021. The pandemic certainly contributed to the decline, but it is not the only reason.?

Life expectancy is on the decline since 2014 (when it experienced a peak). Obesity, heart diseases, chronic liver disease, suicide, drug overdose, and related accidents have significantly contributed to the life expectancy decline. One may question that emerging technologies and improvements in healthcare delivery should continue to propel the graph upward; however, the statistics suggest a large life expectancy gap based on race, ethnicity, income, and gender. The zip code in which one is born is a significant determinant of one’s expected life expectancy in the U.S.?

These disparities highlight the need to do more in holistic health – from early detection (prognosis) and prevention to better diagnosis and timely intervention. There has never been a better time in history to improve the state of public health. The latest technological advancements in science and technology, as well as the ubiquity of knowledge/awareness through the web and social media, have created unique avenues to push the frontiers of healthcare.

Timely intervention is only possible if signs of potential disease/infection are read in time. Most often, we neglect or ignore the signals produced by our bodies. At times, “latent signs” are ineffective communicators as they do not produce perceptible physical symptoms. This is where active healthcare monitoring is vital for everyone. Today, we have tools and tests that can help read these signs and alert individuals when any potential sign or imbalance in the health trend is detected. This is where consumer devices and A.I., along with big data, are expected to support and revitalize the healthcare landscape that is befitting the 21st century.?

At Diagnox, we believe active healthcare monitoring is vital for disease prevention and improving healthcare outcomes. By giving more control to consumers to be in charge of their health and wellness through at-home wellness screenings and tools, we can improve not only public health across the spectrum but also improve overall life expectancy.
