When we started doing the monthly meetups for the DMD group it was invariable that entrepreneurs would get invited to speak.
BTW, the next meetup is at Dubai Commercity on Dec 15th at 3pm and if you wish to speak there, you can message me.
So, if you are an entrepreneur with a fear of public speaking, one of the first steps to overcome that is to know who you are speaking to.
When you know what your audience is expecting, you can tailor your message accordingly.
In fact, fear of speaking stems from you paying a lot of attention to yourself and when you shift this attention to the audience, most of the fear drains away.
Secondly, you need to practice your speech in front of a camera and record it. Listen to your own speech, especially the pauses, the intonation, the facial expression and hand gestures.
After watching yourself a couple of times, you would be able to improve your fluency, clarity, and confidence.
At this stage, if you do not feel confident you can use techniques such as breathing, relaxation, visualization, or positive affirmations.
A fourth step to overcome your fear of public speaking is to engage your audience. Personally, this is what I do myself during every DMD meetup.
Keep the audience on their toes with questions, ideas and nuggets of wisdom. When you shift the fear of the audience to the fear of the speaker, you would have truly become an expert orator.
Success Masala is now trending the charts and thanks to all DMD members and the 14 authors for this awesome effort.
