How can executive coaching support skills of today and future jobs?

As a leader, if you want to create a strong vision, WEF’s "Future of Jobs" should be a Bible to refer to. Why I trust in The World Economic Forum (WEF) 10 skills report is because it determines them through an extensive research process that involves input from industry experts, employers, and policy-makers. The WEF's "Future of Jobs" report is based on a global survey of over 350 executives from different industries and aims to provide insights into the skills that will be in high demand in the future.?

Let’s check backwards before we move forwards.?It is interesting to see how compassion and humanity are taking their place in industries' mindset.?

These are the industrial revolutions we have already had:

  • 1.0 was around the 1780s, when steam power was really cranking and making machinery move.
  • 2.0 was around the 1870s, when mass manufacturing and division of labour was applied.
  • 3.0 started around the late 1960s and was the time of computing.
  • 4.0 was around the year 2000, when sensors started getting smaller and more connected. It was dubbed the ‘internet of things’.

What is on the way are…

Industry 5.0 will be about the robotics ?we put inside ourselves?– bionic augmentation and the ‘internet of bodies’. It will be powered by purpose, not just profit. Covering?more than just manufacturing, this new phase builds upon the fourth industrial revolution and is empowered?by developments in I.T. that include artificial intelligence, automation, big data analytics, the Internet of Things, machine learning, robotics, smart systems, and virtualisation.?

European Union?describes this phase?as providing, “a vision of industry that aims beyond efficiency and productivity as the sole goals, and reinforces the role and the contribution of industry to society.”

This is an important distinction, since “it places the wellbeing of the worker at the centre of the production process and uses new technologies to provide prosperity beyond jobs and growth while respecting the production limits of the planet.”

Industry 6.0 is?a futuristic one, that industries will implement approximately in 10 to 15 years. This revolution focuses on providing service takers with virtualized antifragile manufacturing and antifragile services. Antifragile is simply defined as?a?response to a stressor,?leading to a positive sensitivity to increase in volatility.?So, new revolution will provide a better world that any stress or harmful effect will turn into a positive impact. Sounds confusing but we will see then.:-)))

Identifying areas of improvement:?Coaches can help individuals identify areas where their analytical skills and innovative thinking could be improved. By working together to set goals and objectives, coaches can help individuals develop a clear understanding of what they need to achieve.


Encouraging exploration:?Coaches can encourage individuals to explore their ideas and thoughts, helping them to identify new possibilities and opportunities for innovation. By providing a safe and supportive environment, coaches can help individuals feel comfortable taking risks and trying new approaches. Coaches can support executive’s resilience during times of failure.


Providing tools and techniques:?Coaches can provide individuals with tools and techniques that can be used to improve their analytical skills and foster innovation. Coaching would help them to reflect on their strengths, to focus on purpose and to enable their team to collaborate on innovation.?


Encouraging critical thinking:?Coaches can encourage individuals to think critically about the information they are presented with. By questioning assumptions and looking for underlying causes, individuals can develop more effective analytical skills and innovative thinking.


Practicing new ways of problem-solving:?Coaches can provide individuals with opportunities to practice problem-solving and generate innovative solutions. By working through real-world scenarios and challenges, individuals can develop their analytical skills and learn how to apply them in a practical setting, while also exploring new and innovative approaches.


Providing feedback:?Coaches can provide feedback on an individual's analytical skills and innovative thinking, helping them to identify areas of strength and weakness. By providing constructive feedback, coaches can help individuals to continually improve their skills over time.


Overall, executive coaching can help individuals develop both analytical skills and innovation by providing them with the tools and techniques they need, encouraging exploration and critical thinking, practicing problem-solving, and providing feedback. By working with a coach, individuals can improve their ability to analyze complex information, generate new and innovative ideas, and make informed decisions.
