How can BA be in balance with productive work and enough rest?

Hello dear BA fans!)

How do you spend your weekend? ;) I hope that in a proactive manner!

Sure it is not a secret for all of us that routine work under pressure is the biggest challenge for all of us. Projects that BAs` participate in usually are complex with the highest dynamic and contain a lot of non-standard circumstances and cases. All the mentioned things stress us, sometimes too much! This Monday I want to share some ways how we can stay in shape form and continue our productive work.

Some time ago I found an awesome principle of sports gurus and have used it till now. This principle tells us that if you want to go forward for a long distance you need to combine the walk and rest periods in trip activities successfully. But what is the universal proportion between rest and work time? We have verified answers for all of us.

For each hour of our intensive work we should have up to 20 min of rest) We can combine them in different ways, but the best is the next sequence 20 minutes of intensive work and from 5 up to 10 minutes of rest, depending on your mental, physical, and work environment conditions.

It is simple but hard at the same time :) Because of different reasons urgency of our work, colleagues` white noise, client schedule, etc. A lot of different reasons try to provide barriers to be aligned with our optimal work pace.

But guys, we have an answer, let us flexibly implement this idea for us. Allow ourselves to adapt our work schedule, concentrate our attention, and don`t spend treasured time on nonvaluable things. This is a huge lever arm in our hands) Let`s organize some part of our work time in alignment with the mentioned approach, and on a planned, regular basis, we are going to expand our efforts till we get the expected results! That is hard, really hard work. But the results will be more than impressive for us.

Also, on the way of reconstructing our work approach will be helpful for us some helpers in ourselves` reorganization process in a proactive manner:

1. Please don`t rest in a sitting manner! Try to move, try to act, try to think about something useful during the rest)

2. Walk and think. If you have a chance to walk please do that not less than 3-4 times per workday. This helps you to refresh your thoughts and find non-standard solutions. Based on HLS statistics you will become more everlasting with that practice usage.

3. Provide your physical training in the morning hours when your brain is more productive and sharp. You could combine your physical activities style for example with your easy self-education process)

4. If you want to be more concentrated draw something on the whiteboard and listen to your favorite music at the same time. It will help a lot when you need to group your thoughts, or brainstorm something.

5. Get the needed portion of positive emotions after your work!) It does not depend on where you will get them - with your family, with your friends' time, or maybe from your hobby. Just do that to reload your brain and get a great portion of oxytocin!

6. And finally don`t stress too much about people around you! Every person is not bad, but every person likes himself a little bit more than other people :) Don`t forget about this wise thought! Always find and think about compromise decisions.

Good points, thanks! Taking care of ourselves is crucial if we want to stay in the game for longer ?? I practice the approach of treating my health and longevity as valuable assets https://bit.ly/GoF-E55 And this definitely helps to define a better harmony among various aspects of an active life. As Shane Parrish reminds us, “We must have the patience to know progress is not always visible and the persistence to keep going, even on the bad days. That's the formula”. Good fuel for moving on requires both energy and proper rest, for sure.
