Sometimes I receive comments, questions, or private messages from you asking for advice on how to perform certain construction injection tasks. I always try to respond to these because sharing knowledge and experience is in my nature. However, to make these responses even more valuable and accessible to a wider audience, I've decided to share them here on the forum. This place allows us to discuss, learn from each other, and collectively deepen our passion for construction injections.
Recently, an acquaintance from LinkedIn asked me how to calculate the injection pressure for cracks in concrete. This topic is quite complex and requires detailed discussion, so I would like to invite all interested parties to visit www.resinbau.com. There, not only will you find free injection calculators to help you perform precise calculations, but you'll also discover a range of educational articles that show step by step how to properly conduct various types of injections.
Furthermore, I encourage you to follow my articles on LinkedIn, where I regularly share my knowledge and experience in the field of construction injections. If any of you are curious about the topic, would like to expand your knowledge, or simply have a conversation about the issues that interest you, I warmly invite you to interact. Let's return, however, to our main topic of injection pressure.
Calculating the injection pressure for concrete crack injections depends on various factors, including the viscosity of the injection material, the width and depth of the cracks, the type of injection equipment being used, and the condition of the concrete. While the documents provided do not explicitly detail a formula for calculating injection pressure, they offer insights into proper injection practices, which can guide you in understanding the parameters involved in determining the appropriate pressure.
For structural injections, as described in the documents related to structural injection, injection pressure must be carefully managed to ensure the resin adequately penetrates and fills the cracks without causing further damage to the structure. The document suggests the importance of using the right materials, such as specific resins and packers, and highlights the need for a clean, correctly drilled hole for the packer installation.

When it comes to the technical aspects of determining the exact injection pressure, it is typically recommended to start with lower pressures and gradually increase as necessary to fill the crack effectively. The goal is to ensure the injection material flows into every part of the crack without exceeding the structural capacity of the concrete or causing additional cracks. For precise calculations, you might need to consult with a structural engineer or a specialist with expertise in concrete injections, as they can assess the specific conditions of your project and recommend the optimal pressure based on the crack's characteristics and the injection material's properties.
Additionally, the documents mention the significance of proper drilling techniques, installation of packers, and the correct selection of injection materials. These factors all play a role in determining the successful application of pressure during the injection process.
For an exact formula or specific value, it would involve calculations based on the viscosity of the injection material, the hydraulic radius of the crack (which depends on its width and depth), and the desired flow rate of the injection. Generally, it's advised to consult with the product's technical specifications for recommended pressures or to conduct a test injection in a controlled environment to determine the most effective pressure for your specific situation.

The value given for compressive strengh of concrete is based on a solid piece, internally with cracking and possible voids all extreme pressure will do is blow out the concrete . Low pressure injection with a low viscosity resin is the way to go , if a port requires more pressure, remove the packer and test drill the depth , if still a problem , move onto the next packer . I did many projects using this methodology. Lastly never drill and insert the packers down the length of the external crack , because internally the crack could zig zag so always either side of the crack maybe 4 to 6 inches again that depends in wall thickness , the end of the day its always user error or lack of supervision, people think high pressure gets the job done quicker, the end of the day Keith people will always look for shortcuts unfortunately.
