How to buy time with AI
Many people are getting more and more interested in generative AI technology: Stable Diffusion, DALL-E, ChatGPT, Github Copilot. How can this exciting new technology help you in your work? Let’s first start talking a little bit more about the technology itself and provide some use cases for Generative AI's killer application: Marketing purposes. If this technology really works that good… why pay expensive design agencies to create your designs? Why not use technology to have your designs in just a few minutes.
If time is money... why not buy time?
So, let’s start with the basics. Diffusion is a process by which objects, by random chance, move from one area to another. Think of a drop of ink in a glass of water, which will slowly spread itself throughout the water. It is one of the most fundamental processes in chemistry, physics, and biology and is essential for the functioning of living organisms. The Stable Diffusion model for image generation has learnt two things:
Like a drop of ink diffusing through a glass of water, the model learns how to deconstruct a picture by shuffling pixels around. By running both processes in reverse, a user is able to create new images from nothing. Starting with some random noise, the software does the opposite of real-life diffusion, and moves pixels back into a shape that will most accurately resemble a given target caption text.
Overall, generative AI technology is an incredibly powerful tool for generating new data and understanding existing data. It has a wide range of potential applications. For marketeers, a generative model can be used to fill in missing data from existing data. This data can be used to create more accurate customer profiles, create targeted or personalized advertisements, and optimize customer experience in general. By using this technology, marketeers can gain insights into customer behavior and create more effective strategies to reach their target audiences.
Here are some use cases for generative AI technology in marketing:
The picture above, complementing this blog, is created by stable diffusion in just seconds. And yes, you can also google this or try to find it on Pinterest, (paid) stock images etc. I'm sure that you will not find this picture. And keep in mind that most images do have copywrite. This means that the original creators of products and anyone they give authorization to are the only ones with the exclusive right to reproduce the work. When you do find a picture that will support your campaign, it’s just a matter of a purchase and sometimes it will take time. Your last resort would be to take your camera and start creating an image from scratch or start (digitally) drawing it. Again this will take time and money, setting you back from your competition.
