Why should a personal branding strategy be a top priority for any Network Marketer today?
#1 – If you want to grow your business and recruit more team members you have to get your message out to more people and be seen and heard. If your message is all about your company and their products… well, first of all, it’s not YOUR message. And how is that going make you memorable and differentiate you from every other networker in your company? Why should I join you vs. the top leader in your company?
#2 – As much as I hate to say it, network marketing companies come and go, just like companies in other industries, and if your total branding is tied to your company you’re sunk. Or if the comp plan, the products, the management of your company, or something about your team or upline change, and you feel it’s time to make a move, the brand you worked so are to build doesn’t fit any more.
#3 – Leaders in today’s world of social media brand themselves. PERIOD. If you don’t already have a massive following, you’ll have to build a personal brand that stands out in order to create one.
What is Personal Branding?
Personal Branding is so much more than creating a logo, having a set of fonts you use, and having a color scheme.
While that’s all nice and helpful, Personal Branding is about how you show up in the world to your target audience every single day.
It’s about the image you want to portray, your business and life purpose and mission, how you want to impact people’s lives and change the world, and it’s about telling your story.
You want to build your brand to be more discoverable, memorable, and sharable.
How to Craft Your Image
You know the old saying… “A picture paints a thousand words.”
What is your profile picture saying about you?
Research shows that our brains take in information from an image 28% quicker than from text.
According to an article from Delightful Communications -
“That’s why cat pictures and food photos get so much traction on Facebook. And let’s not get started on the glories to be found on Pinterest!
We love photos because they’re easier to understand and quicker to fuel an emotion. Sometimes that emotion will be good, sometimes it will be bad. Your job as guardian of your personal brand is to make sure your photo/headshot/avatar solicits a positive reaction as it’s often going to be the first thing people look at when perusing your social media profiles or reading your bio…”
If you don’t have a profession headshot photo get one!
You don’t need to be stiff and formal, but you do want to present yourself as someone who inspires confidence and credibility.
Make sure you profile photo is crisp and clear, without a distracting background. Be sure you’re smiling, and you look approachable.
And please… no sunglasses, baseball caps and old tee shirts.
Make Your Brand Discoverable
Use your real name and use the same name everywhere!
Stay top of mind with your audience
You want your prospect to be thinking “Oh, there’s that Gloria MacDonald again.”
The more your image and your name are constantly showing up in your target audience’s newsfeed and searches on Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, Pinterest, Instagram and Twitter the more you’re positioning yourself as a trusted authority.
Reuse and repurpose the same content across all social media platforms.
If you so a Facebook live, download it and upload it to YouTube, LinkedIn, Pinterest, and Instagram when you can.
If you write an article on LinkedIn, share with literally a couple of clicks to groups, your personal page and your business page on Facebook. Share it to Twitter. Create a pin and post it on Pinterest. Take the image from your article and post it on Instagram.
Be present in as many places as possible.
Use an email address with your name in it.
I get that it’s not always easy to find an email address with your name, especially if you have a fairly common one, but it can still be done.
I see email addresses every single day that are totally missing the mark.
Things like “[email protected]”, who the heck is that?
Or “[email protected]”, what??? Who????
Be sure to link your social media sites to one another and your own website if you have one.
The Importance of Establishing Your Purpose
If you don’t have a clear sense of who you are and how you want to make a difference, contribute, or help you’ll have a really tough time your Personal Brand.
You have a message and a story that you, and only you can share.
What is it?
Think about these questions.
- What is it that inspires you to do what you do?
- What keeps you going in your business when it’s just not easy?
- Why have you chosen to become an entrepreneur? Is it because of a personal experience having lost a job? Or a personal or family member’s health challenge? Or a deep burning desire for freedom?
- What makes you unique and different?
- What are your special gifts and talents that you have to share with the world?
- How can you help, serve and bless in your own unique way?
- What’s your story? How did you get to where you are today?
I can just hear you thinking…
“Yeah but I don’t have any talents, there’s nothing unique or special about me.”
NOT TRUE!!!
What I know for sure is that no one was put on this planet to take up space and use up oxygen.
You have a unique and special calling.
Just like there are no two signatures on the planet that are the same, you have what I call your own unique “Soul Signature.”
There’s a new Champion in the world today…
And it’s YOU!
What I know about you is that you have a unique Soul Signature.
A calling and a purpose that no one else in your Network Marketing or Affiliate Marketing company has.
No one else in the world has.
And when you uncover this you can start stepping into the Greatest Expression of YOU!
And it’s from living your Soul Signature, your calling, that your Tribe will be called to you.
You get paid to live out your soul’s calling.
Share your message with the world.
And you have the freedom to travel when you want, where you want…
And create a business and a life you love living in every way.

Create Your Personal Branding Statement
Before you begin with creating your Personal Branding Statement you need to know who your target audience is. You need to understand what their challenges and pains are, and what they want.
I’m not talking about creating an avatar. Personally, I think that’s a total load of crap and I explain why in my article The Perfect Prospect Fallacy.
Once you’ve identified who you are and what your unique Soul Signature is, you want to have a clear statement that tells your audience exactly what’s in in for them.
What benefit is your prospect going to get from being connected with you and following you?
How are you going to help them move away from their pain and towards their pleasure?
What’s your mission and how are you going to add value?
Here’s an example of my branding statement and how I use it in my signature block on emails and in various places on social media.
