How to build your personal brand on LinkedIn?

I started writing on LinkedIn with a very simple thought, to improve my writing skills. Little did I know that it would become such an important part of my routine. Not only has it helped me create a personal brand for myself, but has helped me connect with so many people out there.

From gathering the support of more than 20+ volunteers from PAN India for Sevam Foundation to getting invited as a speaker, LinkedIn has provided me with a powerful tool to achieve seemingly impossible goals.

It is undeniable that LinkedIn can help you establish your professional presence, increase your visibility, and open up new opportunities. However, the question remains, how can you make the most of this platform?

This article will cover the basics for you to start with, and soon detailed versions will follow. So let us start one step at a time.


1. Optimize your LinkedIn profile:?

  • Put a profile photo that is professional; avoid selfies or low-quality images.
  • Your headline says the most accurate thing about you and that is the first thing someone reads on your profile so make sure to highlight your present position, a couple of achievements, and education on it. Do not overflood it with everything you have, just a couple would do.?
  • Use the summary and feature section to show your major achievements

?2. Create valuable content:?

  • Don’t be shy to start
  • Start sharing high-quality content related to your industry?and anything you have experienced or felt. Everyone has a unique journey that needs to be shared and read. Just make sure it is well-drafted and qualitative.
  • Experiment with articles, videos, or long vs small format posts to see what your audience likes and resonates the most.
  • Use good hook likes to start your posts with. This must be attention-grabbing for people to read the rest of your post.

?3. Engage:?

  • Comment on posts you like, people do notice you from your viewpoint and opinion on topics you choose to engage with.
  • Congratulate people for their achievements; the idea is to create a positive growth environment.
  • Build relationships with other professionals in your industry?through personal DMs, posts, audio events, and other mediums.
  • Join LinkedIn groups and communities and participate in discussions, share your opinions, and offer value

?4. Showcase your achievements:?

  • Share your accomplishments via posts, this shall help prospective employers and your connections to know what you have been up to.
  • Use the featured section to keep them on top so that anyone who visits your profile can skip scrolling through posts and see the most important parts of your journey.

5. Stay active:?

  • Be consistent, most people get demotivated due to fewer likes in the first couple of posts. However, it is important to understand that it takes time to build your community.?
  • Stay active by posting regular updates, engaging with your network, and creating new content. This will help you stay top of mind with your audience and establish yourself as a trusted authority in your industry
