If you haven’t already, consider the importance of visualizing your goals and getting them down on paper. Better yet? Build a vision board. We're halfway almost halfway through 2021, now is a great time to reflect and refocus your goals with visualization.
Success happens when you have a clear, defined vision of what that looks like for you. If you visualize exactly what you want, you will be more likely to achieve it.
Vision boards are a great visualization tool - in fact, just the act of creating it can be a hugely productive (and sometimes enlightening) exercise. You might discover something new about yourself and your goals, and you might get a better idea on what priorities matter most.
How to Create a Visualization Board
Get Your Tools - Stop by a local store a pick up a small poster board or flat cardboard -something that's large enough to have impact but portable enough to be placed in a highly visible spot. Also pick up some magazines that you like, along with glue, scissors, and markers.
Write a shortlist first - This will help to keep you on track throughout the vision board exercise. Set a time frame for your Vision Board - such as 6 months, 1 year, 5 years. Think about your top goals for that timeline and keep these in mind as you browse images in the magazines. Be specific; anything too vague can lose impact.
Use pictures that represent your goals - Search the magazines you purchased for images that are aligned with your shortlist goals. The images don’t have to be exact; they just need to be close enough for you to get inspired - remind you of your why. Think more abstract and less exact during the exercise. You should have an immediate connection to the image - it should really get you pumped up.
Add motivational words - Vision boards aren't just about images; they are also about using the right words to inspire. Add the words that motivate you - you may even find these words in the magazines. Take a moment to place everything on the board before gluing down, so it doesn't look awkward in the end.
Get personal - Don't be afraid to get personal with your images. Add a few of your own images or images you found online. It's your vision board, so make it personal to your success, because it’s all about you.
