How to Build a Universe by Prof. Brian Cox, Robin Ince and Alexandra Feachem

This week’s book is How to Build a Universe by Professor Brian Cox, Robin Ince and Alexandra Feachem which stems from the Radio 4 programme ‘The Infinite Monkey Cage’. I have to confess that I haven’t finished this book yet, but I am really enjoying it. So far, I have read about whether picked strawberries should be considered dead or alive and now I am on to the recipe for our universe. My favourite quote from this book to date was provided by Carl Sagan which reads ‘if you wish to make apple pie from scratch, you must first create the universe’. Personally, I think I'll have to be content with buying the ingredients ??. The authors and editors have clearly made an effort to make this book easy to read considering the subject matter. The writing style is conversational in parts and the text is broken up by pictures and doodles which really helps. I can’t wait to read the rest … even if it makes my brain hurt.
