How to Build a Strong Team for a First Time Founder?
by Vish Desai , Co-Founder & CTO @ EroNkan Technologies
As first-time founders, the team we assemble is pivotal for our success. We need individuals who deeply resonate with our vision and embrace it wholeheartedly. This shared drive is the lifeblood that will sustain our startup.
However, it transcends mere shared vision. None of us possesses the complete skill set required to execute every task effectively – nor the time and energy to outperform all competitors vying for the same market.
Therefore, we must bring aboard individuals who complement our strengths and fill the gaps where we lack expertise.
A diverse squad with varied perspectives and abilities? That's where the magic happens. To achieve this, we need to find people with:
1. The Right Mindset
This entrepreneurial journey will be riddled with curveballs and challenges testing our resolve to the limits. That's why mindset matters as much as skill set – perhaps even more. We need individuals embracing a growth mindset, perceiving obstacles as opportunities, and adapting seamlessly. With a resilient team, we can weather any storm.
2. The Culture Architects

Early hires aren't just employees; they're culture architects. Their attitudes and work ethics will shape the company's DNA and lay the foundation for an environment that attracts other top talents down the line. It's a ripple effect, so we must choose wisely.
The challenge, however, lies in finding these golden needles with our limited resources.
One option is leveraging our personal network, though this risks straining relationships if the fit isn't right.
Another is traditional channels like job portals and recruiters, which can be expensive.
The most promising approach may be to convince former colleagues to join – especially those who have reported to us and with whom we share a good professional rapport.
They understand our work culture and may possess the desired mindset and skill set.
It will be arduous, but as we've volunteered for this journey, we must persevere with calm determination.
