How To Build The Right Content Marketing Funnel To Grow Your Inbound Leads

Yes, your content marketing funnel starts with listening.

But I want to make this easy for you. So today, what I’m going to talk about is how to simplify or at least visualize your entire content marketing funnel, how content ideas flow, and how to manage your entire business.

When you look at it in this chart format that I’ve created for you, you will be able to understand each part that is involved in your marketing cycle and how to manage each of those parts.

So, without much further ado, let’s get started.

First Step To Get Started

The idea here is that you use Quora to get started. The content on your website or any other pieces that you publish as part of your content marketing should start by answering questions that your target customers are asking that your buyer persona is asking, and the best place to find those questions is Quora.

So this is a place where you start. Once you get some questions that you would love to answer, and that would establish your credibility, your authority in the industry as a leader, as a thought leader, as an expert, as a market leader. As an industry expert, you start by publishing that content.

Publishing The Content

Now this green box here is the owned media. This is content that you have published and you own.

So your website, some part of your blog, and other stuff that you might publish like a Wistia channel, etc. will come here. But ideally, I’m lumping it all together as a website. So all of your owned media comes here.

Now let’s say you start publishing the content as the next step in your content marketing funnel.

Now when you’ve published the content, it also includes your digital footprint, which includes connection with your analytics. It includes connection with your measurement, connections with your tracking, your pixels, your conversion pixels, anything that you need to engage and target remarket to your audience.

Now that information is stored here, Digital footprint drives all that information to analytics.

Now, once you have published all of this, part of your own media is also your conversion funnel. Not this is your paid marketing media or at least a place where customers actually convert into your funnel. So while you’re driving your customers into your funnel with your owned media, you are converting them via the conversion sequence.

Conversion Sequence

Now the conversion sequence or conversion system includes landing pages, sales funnels, lead generation systems, lead magnets, payment set up if you’re selling online conversion optimization and lead nurturing.

So these are the things that you do during the conversion process. This includes your emails as well. Now you do search engine optimization, and you do some link building in order to drive traffic onto your website, and this essentially leads to your email newsletters.

All the content that you’re publishing part of the content goes into your email newsletters.

Now, this is your organic traffic campaign, which includes your email automation, multiple emails that you send out. It also includes your newsletters text messages if you send out chatbots if you send out and you drive people into your content marketing funnel for conversion. Now, this becomes your organic traffic campaign.

Paid Traffic Campaigns

Then you have paid traffic campaigns. Come on this side. Once you have published content on your own site, you push it out into your social media. This is your social media content, and that includes Facebook. Linkedin YouTube, Instagram, etc.

The reason there is an overlap here is because you can use paid traffic and you can use organic traffic from social media.

Now the content also gets published to Medium and from Medium, the content after this goes to Reddit, and it goes to Haro now.

How does it go to Haro? Prospects ask questions on Haro and they would quote you and link to your website. Once you answer that question, it’s a simple website called Help A Reporter Out. You should definitely go and check out haro.com

So the content that you published on Haro becomes your earned media. It’s like press releases.

And then traffic from earned media again comes back to your main website.

So this is essentially how content marketing funnel and the users flow. Now paid traffic Once again comes on to your social media comes onto your owned media or your conversion funnel. So there has to be one more arrow here, but this is your entire content and user flow.
