How to Build a Powerful Personal Brand on LinkedIn

How to Build a Powerful Personal Brand on LinkedIn

LinkedIn is a person-to-person platform.

People buy from people they trust.

If your LinkedIn strategy feels like shouting into the void, here’s why:

??People don’t engage with logos; they engage with faces.

??Cold DMs rarely convert—trust needs to be built first.

??Inconsistent posting makes you forgettable.

Want to build a personal brand that attracts opportunities? Read on.

Step 1: Embrace That LinkedIn is About People, Not Companies

People don’t log onto LinkedIn to engage with faceless brands. They come to learn from individuals, connect with experts, and follow real people who share valuable insights.

Your profile, content, and interactions should reflect you—not just your company.

??Use your real name, not a business name

??Write your headline as a value statement (e.g., “I help B2B founders scale without paid ads”)

??Be active in comments—LinkedIn favours engagement, and it’s the easiest way to grow visibility

Step 2: Use Photos of Yourself—Even if It Feels Uncomfortable

Hate posting pictures of yourself? Get over it, I have a face for radio!?

But visibility breeds familiarity. People will begin to associate your face with your expertise, and that’s branding gold.

Here’s how to make it easy:

?? Choose a high-quality headshot as your profile picture—consistent and recognisable

?? Use the same thumbnail branding across all posts

?? Post personal, behind-the-scenes images—this builds trust faster than stock photos

You don’t need to post selfies every day. But if your audience never sees you, how can they feel connected to you?

Step 3: Offer Actionable Advice (Instead of Just Selling)

A lot of LinkedIn posts fail because they’re all about the author.

The fastest way to build trust? Give value—without expecting anything in return.

?? If you’re a sales coach → Share your best cold outreach script

?? If you’re in marketing → Explain how to write a killer LinkedIn post

?? If you’re a recruiter → Teach candidates how to optimise their profiles

Every post should leave people thinking: That was useful. I like this creator.

Step 4: Be Consistent (Even if It’s Just Once a Week)

Consistency is more important than frequency.

Posting five times one week, then disappearing for a month? That’s ineffective.

Instead:

?? Post at least once per week—same day, same time

?? Stick to a recognisable format (e.g., tips, insights, storytelling)

?? Use brand colours and a thumbnail style for easy recognition

Even if you only show up weekly, your audience will remember you.

Step 5: Stop Expecting Cold DMs to Work

People don’t buy from strangers in their inbox.

Before you slide into someone’s DMs, ask yourself:

?? Have they seen my name before?

?? Have they engaged with my content?

?? Do they already trust me?

If not, your DM is just spam.

Instead, use content to warm up your audience. When your insights resonate, people come to you.

Final Thought: Personal Branding is a Long Game

Want to be the go-to expert in your industry??

Show up. Consistently. Share value. Be human.

This is why I created my ProGrowth LinkedIn Funnel. It does everything on autopilot, including content at scale and all online and off-platform activities. If you want to stop chasing clients and start attracting them, it’s the system you need.

What’s stopping you from posting consistently on LinkedIn? Drop a comment—I’ll help you fix it.
