HOW TO BUILD THE MOST ROBUST HOT FORGE PRESSES
When we design our presses, it starts with a consistent philosophy at Sutherland. BUILT TO LAST is more than a catch phrase, it is applied to each component, sub assembly to final press assembly and testing. As you can see in the photo above, this 2500 ton capacity eccentric shaft is machined with great care. Notice the radius cuts which greatly reduce potential fatigue areas.
The pitman below will be installed on our 2500 ton forge press. Not shown here is the motorized die height adjustment for fine tuning of depth setting for each stroke and the hydraulic un-sticking device. Below is a new 1000 ton line recently installed in Mexico. From right to left is heating system, 1000 ton forge with auto die sprayer, chute to 176 ton trim press. We are currently building another 1600 ton forge press line for Mexico automotive parts.
