What’s inside this issue: The 3 marketing tools you need to build your dream business | Why LinkedIn is the perfect place to start | How to build momentum on LinkedIn
All it takes is 30 minutes a day to attract the clients and projects you want. And much of that can be done here on LinkedIn. Here’s how to build momentum on LinkedIn so it becomes automatic.
Life as a creative business owner is an ebb and flow.?But at times, it can feel like your business is all ebb and no flow.
When that happens, you just need to focus a little extra attention in one of these areas:
These are the only three things you need to do to attract the clients and projects that you want, you can do all of them here on LinkedIn, and all it takes is 30 minutes a day to get them done.?
Now, 30 minutes a day isn’t a lot.
But without building momentum, it can feel like a lot to get started.
When you have momentum in your marketing efforts, finding clients and gigs that fit your goals can almost feel effortless.
Because you’re already moving forward.
And to continue moving forward takes far less effort than to begin.
One of the most important places to build momentum as a creative business owner today is right here on LinkedIn.
After all, according to LinkedIn, 4 out of 5 people on this platform right now drive business decisions. That means the people who hire freelancers are lurking on this site as you read this.
And spending just 30 minutes a day connecting, commenting, and posting can help attract the clients you want to you.
But, since momentum doesn’t happen on its own, here are…
Three (Painless!) Ways to Build Momentum on LinkedIn
Need a Quick Win?
Sometimes you just need a quick win! If today is one of those days, watch this video for my outreach shortcuts that can help you get a quick win - and a little extra confidence.
1. You have to show up to build momentum.?

“Showing up” is simple. It just means that you do a little bit to move your business forward each and every day. If that’s 30 minutes a day, great. If it’s 5 minutes, that’s fine, too. Just keep showing up and you will start to feel the momentum carry you forward.
2. Things take the time they take. This is an idea from one of my favorite books, Oliver Burkeman’s Four Thousand Weeks . Momentum requires movement, and it builds over time. The more consistently you show up, and the longer you show up over time... the more momentum you will build.
3. Momentum is what makes you unstoppable. It’s what carries you through dips in energy and motivation. It’s what brings dream clients your way, almost effortlessly. And when you start small and keep going, it’s what makes your marketing - on LinkedIn and elsewhere - a powerful force that carries your business forward.

1 年I love your emphasis on building momentum Ilise Benun. So many freelancers don't understand that the hard ward required to build a freelance business does start to build momentum. And once that happens, freelancers can start to focus more on serving their clients and somewhat less on marketing. Marketing, especially, being active on LinkedIn in, is always important. But it's a lot less work once we build momentum.
