How to Build a Marketing Team From Scratch

When I first launched Lupa, we had solid amount of clients from my network that kept us busy for the first year, but I quickly realized that wasn’t enough.

I was lucky enough to work with many clients and and learn what the best were doing to build a marketing team. <-- (Full guide on how I've seen the best doing it)

Starting in 2024, we made a commitment to "market 100x better". There's been a lot of trial and error, but we've started to build momentum.


Our marketing metrics last month

  • +70% in website traffic
  • +64% in emails opened
  • 5x growth in SEO keywords ranked in the top 3


Let me walk you through how I did it and what I learned along the way:

  1. I spent a lot of time looking at what other businesses in my industry were doing. I took their best ideas and adapted them to fit my needs. My first hire was someone who could get things done, not just plan. They needed to be ready to jump in and tackle the work head-on.
  2. I had to decide where to concentrate our efforts. Was it SEO, emails, writing articles, or building a community? I tried a bit of everything, and measured a ton until I found what worked best for my business.
  3. As my team started to grow, I paid close attention to what was working and what wasn't. I moved efforts to what was showing the most progress, and found ways to add experts in those areas.

When I found a strategy that worked, I doubled down on it.
