In this latest edition of?Winning business on LinkedIn,?we'll be sharing ideas to build a far more engaged audience that results in more business wins. You can do this by getting your posting strategy right, by building your network in an intentional way and by commenting in ways that spark conversations.
These ideas come from our live Q&A calls with LinkedIn experts, which take place once a month. We have a session next month with Ann Marie Beebout and you can register for this series of calls here ?(no cost).
In terms of today's edition, my thanks go to LinkedIn experts Louise Brogan , Jen Corcoran and John Espirian for the ideas they've shared.
Tip 1: Figuring Out What To Post About on Social Media
There are lots of actionable ideas in this conversation I had with Louise Brogan, all revolving around figuring out what to post about on social media.
Louise encourages us to reflect upon: what are the questions you get asked about what you do - or about the problems you solve? These questions are the things that people genuinely want to know about.
So, what do you get asked about all the time? Note this down regularly and you'll produce a rich seam of future topics to post about.
Also, ask your audience questions (or poll them to get input) and use their responses as the basis for your next posts.
Lastly, think about journaling. What have you done in your business during the week, what are the client challenges you've helped overcome? These things are a rich source of inspiration for content to post too.

Tip 2: Building Your Network in a Focused and Intentional Way
One of the things you may have picked up on Louise saying is that connecting with people in a targeted fashion really helps with getting audience input on content to produce. It'll also mean your content is more likely to land and to prompt engagement when you do post.
Well, Jen Corcoran and I spoke about how to build your network effectively. You'll hear we're both advocates of building your network very intentionally to maximise results. We talk about how you do this and why it matters in this short video...
Tip 3: Commenting in Ways That Spark Conversations
Of course, conversations are ultimately what turn LinkedIn connections into more meaningful relationships (and ultimately, business wins).
I asked John Espirian for some of his top tips on commenting in ways that are more likely to spark conversations. Here's what he recommends you focus on:
If you were in a face-to-face situation, how would you interact with someone you've met? Try to replicate this way of talking with other people when you're commenting on LinkedIn, as that's what'll really spark conversations.
You'll hear John talk about how things really took off for him when he became less "shirt and tie" and more "jeans and T-shirt" in his writing approach. Also, be genuinely interested in people and ask real questions, plus add insights of your own where you are able to.
In essence, exactly the kinds of things that would prompt lively conversations in a face-to-face situation are the things that will also spark such conversations in an online environment. I recommend taking a couple of minutes to catch John's thoughts on this here:
I hope this selection of ideas really helps you to ramp up your effectiveness on LinkedIn. If there's a question you'd like us to answer on the next live Q&A call, feel free to drop a comment below (or private message me, if preferred). Thanks - and see you on the next call!
P.S. you're welcome to book a call via the?Social-Hire.com ?homepage if you'd like to talk to our team about your social media strategy for the coming year and how our team can help you devise and implement a winning strategy.

1 年I just love this Tony. I especially appreciated this tidbit. "If you were in a face-to-face situation, how would you interact with someone you've met?" YES. This is the thing that people never seem to understand about communicating with people online!
