How to Build a Business that Scales is a common question asked, as it's clear to see most businesses never scale up to larger operations. Let’s look at how to make a business scaleable.

The keys to scaleability are, structure, systems and the most challenging to most business owners, delegation! Structure is about having a management structure either existing or planned, so you don’t have to get involved in every issue or questions raised by your team. Systems are about writing down how each part of a job is undertaken, which allows everyone to work in the same way and new starters to quickly learn how to do the job.
However, delegation is to a large extent about mindset and this is why most business owners struggle with this. Think of it this way, you have worked hard, risked money and possibly spent years of your life creating your business. It’s your baby and you say how it works, subconsciously you don’t trust people to make decisions about your business as nobody can run it like you.
So here is the situation that develops as your business grows, you will find you are being asked more about how to do things, how you would like something done, or is this ok? It feels great, you really sense the business needs you. But as the business grows the amount of these interruptions grow and you will no longer have the time to work on developing and growing the business, so over time it stops growing. If you don’t start delegating work to your team, you will never stop your personal work overload. Delegating gives you time back, to work on growing and developing your business. As long as you start the process in small steps and allow your team to learn the new responsibilities, the process can be low risk and controllable.
