How to Build Authority and Win More Clients

Most coaches and consultants that come to me are caught on the hamster wheel of entrepreneurship. They are constantly on a mission to get new clients, their income is unpredictable and they feel overwhelmed with the "daily grind" of running their own business.

Sound familiar?

The big question on everyone's mind is "How do I move from the "feast or famine cycle" of growing a coaching or consulting business?" The answer is simple, you have to focus on building your authority.

When you have authority, you can dominate your industry. Authority means people choose you over your competitors. It allows you to command higher prices, make more money and ultimately, to serve more people.

Building your authority allows you to go from the hunter to the hunted online.

This means your ideal clients seek YOU out to help them solve their problems. It allows you to always have a steady stream of leads and creates more predictability with cash flow, all of which are necessary to scale a business to seven figures.

So how do you build authority? How do you rise above the noise and stand out online? You know you can help people and you've gotten incredible results for your clients but how do you get the world to know your name?

There are 3 keys to creating Authority: Story, Solution and Social Proof.

This is a framework I created that I teach my clients. It's call The Authority Triangle? and each of these sides are necessary to elevate your credibility and build an expert-authority business. Let's dive into each one.

#1 Your Story

Every expert should have a compelling story that you can share with your audience. Often times, we forget how much we know and we fail to effectively communicate our wealth of knowledge and expertise to our audience.

Consider how much information and experience you have acquired throughout your life. You may have multiple degrees and certifications. You may have decades of experience in the corporate world, started multiple companies, spoke on stages, won awards or built your career to a certain level of success.

When you look back on your life and your career, most likely you have achieved a lot both for the companies you worked for and for your clients. You may have had major setbacks, overcome huge obstacles, and quite possibly failed miserably and yet came back to win again. Does the world know what you know?

Building your authority starts with telling your story.

This means remembering all that you have been through and all of your accomplishments and putting it together in a compelling story that connects with your audience.

It also means telling your story over and over again. Write about, weave it into your livestreams or videos and even build it into your sales conversations. Remember that the person on the other end of the phone probably consumed a single piece of content of yours but they have no idea you know as much as you know! Remind them.

Next, comes your solution.

#2 Your Solution

You are on this journey called life. You've acquired a ton of knowledge and experience. You've experienced highs and lows yet somewhere along the way, it all came together for you. This is known as your epiphany or your "ah-ha" moment and it's when everything changed.

Your realization allowed you to achieve the success you desired. You "figured it out." A new pathway was created and this became your solution, the step-by-step methodology for how you help your clients solve their biggest problem.

You know that if your clients follow the same steps you took, they will achieve the results that they have been looking for. You now can save them a ton of time, energy, frustration and money by showing them the fastest path to solving their problems. This is your unique solution and it becomes the second key to creating authority in your industry.

Experts tell their story and they teach their solution.

Imagine you have been climbing this mountain and now you are at the top- success! Now you have to tell the world, "Hey guys, come this way. I can show you how to get to where you want to go!"

You tell your story, the highs, the lows and the knowledge and experience you acquired along the way. And you teach your solution, the steps you took to achieve the success you now have.

Your Social Proof

You've put in the work. You learned from your failures and finally found success. You created a solution and you are walking others down the path. The final key to creating authority is social proof.

This is about serving others with your knowledge. It's about collapsing time for them. They don't have to go through years of struggle or waste a ton of money trying to figure it out on their own. They can solve their problem easily because you have the solution.

You are changing lives and creating incredible success stories. All of this activity creates momentum. It validates you as a true expert and increases the demand for your products and services.

The more people you help, the more people will want to work with you.

Remember that authority is earned and not claimed. You can not be an authority in the coaching or consulting world without helping people. You must have solid social proof that your solution didn't just work for you but it works for other people too.

These are the 3 keys to creating Authority. Remind people of your story. Teach them your solution. Get them results and share you social proof.

When you understand this process, your credibility will skyrocket, people will know your name and I promise, you will never have a shortage of amazing clients.
