Everyone likes The Minions Right? (Or most people do)
They are these cute little adorable little characters that are naughty, nice and mischievous. They are heroes, and in some things they really suck, and with other stuff, they are really great in. Ultimately we can relate to them. Think why you like them as a character (Or not if you don’t) and understand the components that build them up into the attractive characters that they are.
How do you build an attractive character?
First, let’s establish why building an attractive character is so important. You need to build rapport, trust and confidence with your audience. People buy from people that they trust. A character that they can relate to.
There are four components of an attractive character:
#1 Backstory.
Everyone has a story to tell. Sometimes it is incredibly hard to tell your story. I know this first hand because I had to do this as part of the OFA challenge I did. I was not the only one that was struggling with this. There where thousands of entrepreneurs that did the OFA challenge that had the same struggle. Why is it so hard to tell a story that is about us, our past, our struggles our desires, achievements, conflicts, the plan and more all in one story (yes there is a script to this)
#2 Speak In Parables
What is Parables? Parables are little stories that you tell. It is short but powerful little stories that have a big impact. I have learned to tell stories that have generated me sales. I still have lots of room for improvement in telling stories but it is all practice, and you can do the same.
#3 Share Your Flaws
Everyone has flaws, if you are going to pretend to be perfect people are not going to build into the nonsense. Let’s be honest for a minute. If I follow someone that always have a perfect life, with zero struggles, basically just a perfect life on a golden platter then I will not be interested. Because I will not be able to relate to this person. Will you be able to relate? Probably not…
#4 Harness The Power of Polarity
What on earth is that? That was my first question when I read the heading in Russel’s book, Dotcom Secrets. When you are communicating with people you don’t want to offend them.
Don’t just always share what you think people want to hear that is a mistake that people make.
Be polarizing with your audience. People relate to real and authentic.
