How To Build an AI Agent To Control Household Devices
In the last article, I introduced Sensecap Watcher from Seeed Studio, a physical AI agent that can take action based on what it sees. In this tutorial, I will show you how I built an agent that automatically turns on a Philips Wiz smart bulb when Sensecap Watcher detects that a person is reading a book.
The diagram below shows the high-level workflow to implement this scenario.
The Sensecap Watcher is accessed through the SenseCraft mobile app, which is used to send the task and the configuration parameters to the device. When the condition is met, Sensecap Watcher can trigger a local HTTP endpoint with the specified payload, which is mentioned in the configuration.
The task runs every 30 seconds, capturing the frame and sending it to a multimodal AI model (Vision Language Model) along with the prompt. If the response from the model indicates that it found a person reading a book, Sensecap Watcher invokes the local HTTP endpoint, which has the API to turn on a Philips Wiz smart bulb.
