What is your purpose? What is your brand’s purpose? Have you thought about this recently? If not, it may be worth another look. So often we get in the groove and forget to step back and ask ourselves if our brand is still representing its intended purpose. And it’s an important question to ask because sometimes it can change from your original plan.?
WHY YOU NEED TO KNOW YOUR BRAND’S PURPOSE
If you can figure out and clarify the purpose of your brand, then you can better nail down the right strategy for your social media as well. And we all know how important having the right strategy is. I’ve covered this a lot in past posts about the importance of figuring out what social media platforms you should be on, and how to go about figuring that out.?
Good social media is one of the most powerful ways to expand your audience, engage with your customers, and it gives you the ability to directly affect your audience and their decision-making process via social media. Having a strong social media presence builds brand awareness and keeps your audience up-to-date and informed.
So….figure out your brand’s story, voice, and purpose, and you can figure out your strategy and start to work your brand into your social media more intentionally.
HOW DO YOU DO THIS?
First, you need to figure out the “why.†Why did you create your brand in the first place? What is it supposed to do? What problems does it solve for your ideal customer? Can you answer these questions? If you’ve figured this out, you’re halfway there. You can then begin building your strategy to ensure that all your content is relevant and is getting into the hands of the right people. Ask yourself…
- What are the best ways you can connect with your audience?
- What does your audience needs from you? What is the problem they need you to solve?
- What is the vision of your company?
There is also a great method to help you answer all of these questions and figure out what your vision is by using a method called The Five Whys.?
First, figure out your statement, then based on your answer, ask yourself “why is that important.†Then do this after your answer and continue to ask that same question of each answer up to 5 times to delve deeper.
For example, Next Step Social exists to help customers with their social media.?

SO, WHAT'S NEXT?
Once you’ve narrowed down your brand’s purpose, you need to be intentional about how you add it into your social media. Your content should reflect your vision, you should be showing up where those audiences are that need your help, and you should be engaging in ways that reflect the goal of your brand.
It's important to note that your brand's purpose should be more than just making a profit. While making money is important, it should not be the sole focus. Your brand's purpose should be about making a positive impact on your customers and the world around you. Having a purpose that goes beyond profit will help you attract and retain customers who share your values and beliefs.
Clarifying your brand's purpose, it will also help you make better decisions when it comes to your marketing efforts. By understanding your brand's purpose, you will know what message to communicate to your audience and how to reach them. It will also help you identify what type of content will be most effective in engaging your audience and building trust.
It's also important to remember that your brand's purpose should be communicated consistently across all of your marketing efforts. This includes your website, social media, email marketing, blog, podcast, and any other channels you use to communicate with your audience. Consistency will help you build trust and credibility with your audience.
Another important aspect of your brand's purpose is authenticity. Your audience can quickly spot inauthenticity and it can damage your brand's reputation. Being authentic means staying true to your brand's purpose and values, and being honest in your communication with your audience.
Knowing your brand's purpose is essential for building a strong social media strategy and reaching your target audience effectively. It's important to take the time to figure out your brand's purpose and how it aligns with your audience's needs. Once you've figured out your brand's purpose, be intentional about incorporating it into your social media efforts and communicating it consistently across all of your marketing channels. Remember that authenticity is key, and by staying true to your brand's purpose and values, you'll build trust and credibility with your audience.
