People teach what they struggle with the most, which is certainly true with me regarding procrastination.?
For many years, procrastination has limited both my personal and professional growth.?I don't know the root cause, and maybe it's just laziness - hey, it's Friday!?
But I find myself constantly wrestling with procrastination and trying to find ways to break it.?
My productivity levels go through the roof whenever I break out of it! I get things done in life and business.?
I'll set mini goals and deadlines to keep myself from procrastinating and on point.?But today, I want to give you three simple ideas that work for me, and besides, it's almost the weekend -?yippee ???
1) STOP COMPARING YOURSELF TO OTHERS.
Check out my post yesterday on not comparing your Chapter 1 with someone else's Chapter 10.?
Some people will have different experiences, situations, and skills than you do.
So use it as inspiration, but it should never stop you from achieving your dreams and aspirations.
2) SET DEADLINES.?
Setting a deadline helps, and there's so much I can get done in the last bit of the day before I go off and do something else.?
Could you take this afternoon, for example - as soon as I finish? I'm off fly fishing, and I can't wait.?

3) DON'T WRITE A LONG TO-DO LIST.?
Instead, focus on one achievable thing to do that day. You don't have time or flexibility to do everything, so don't do it!?
Concentrating on one thing breaks me out of that procrastination habit and moves me in the right direction. I still have a long to-do list elsewhere, but the focus here is on business.?
So figure out the one thing you can do at a high level in the next 24 hours to move you closer to your goals.?
I hope the above is helpful to you today and that you have a wonderful weekend.?

2 年I am like yourself Martin Murtagh MSc, MCIM ?? and I used to get frustrated with myself when overcoming procrastination techniques (there are lots of them) would not work for me. What I have come to learn is different techniques work for different people and their specific cognitive styles (that is why there are so many of them). Something I have used is the MindSonar tool to help clients with procrastination and choosing the right methods for them. Worth us catching up at some point, by the way. ??

2 年Some great points made here Martin Murtagh MSc, MCIM. I can fall victim of procrastinating myself and find having a clear plan of prioritised activities helps. I hate to-do lists, and try to use my calendar as much as possible to plan what I need to do and when...have witnessed on more occasions than I wouldnkike to say, people writing huge to-do lists, ticking off the top 4 or 5 tasks, then spending 10-15mins the following day rewriting all the tasks they didn't get to the day before and adding more...complete waste of time and putting themselves under unnecessary pressure!!!
