When it comes to programming and refactoring, knowing how to use the right shortcuts may save you time and boost your productivity. IntelliJ IDEA is a fantastic IDE (goodbye Eclipse) with a number of shortcuts that make debugging and programming easier.?
Android Studio is based on IntelliJ IDEA and is the official IDE for successful enterprise mobile application development.
When I first entered the business world, I discovered a number of shortcuts. These shortcuts are organised into groups based on how I use them.
The Most Famous
Financial and accounting services cover a wide range of services that businesses utilize to be compliant with federal, state, and local laws. Consultation and planning are also part of the service to enhance company performance and meet other requirements.
Using the keymap option in Mac OS X 10.5+, the following shortcuts are configured by default. In Android Preferences Keymap, you may modify the keymap option. To alter the choice, press SHIFT twice and type keymap (I'll go over this in more detail later).
The Most Underrated
Let's move on to something a little more intriguing.
Selection Tool
The selection tool in Android Studio (and hence IntelliJ) is rather sophisticated. By hitting ALT + UP, you may activate the selection tool, which will select the whole statement/expression/line you're looking at.
Simply press ALT + UP until the desired option is reached if the selection has to be enlarged. Did you make too many choices? Don't panic; hitting ALT + DOWN will restore the former state of the selection tool.
Bookmark and Favorite
Bookmarks and favorites are life saviours for huge projects since they allow you to mark certain classes or lines of code and easily access them later.
These are stored by default in the favorites menu, which may be found in the tool buttons on the left.
The menu may also be reached by pressing CMD + 2 on your keyboard.
Favorite
Use ALT + SHIFT + F to add a class to the most recommended list. A pop-up will ask for the new list name.
Bookmarks
F3 can be used to bookmark a specific line of code. The number of bookmarks that may be added is unlimited.
领英推荐
CMD + F3 will bring up a new window with all of your bookmarks on the left and the ability to traverse the code on the right.
If a bookmark requires further information, press CMD + RETURN to write a brief description.
Mnemonic Bookmarks
Mnemonic bookmarks are similar to regular bookmarks, but they allow you to reach them much faster.
Simply navigate to the line of code you wish to bookmark and press ALT + F3 to create a mnemonic bookmark. A tiny window will appear, displaying the available fast access keys. Once the fast access key (e.g. 1) has been selected, employing CTRL + key (e.g. CTRL + 1) makes it simple to browse to that bookmark.
Surround With
ALT + CMD + T is a useful shortcut for refactoring procedures. It will use something to enclose the selected text, such as try/catch, an if statement, or plain brackets. After that, a tiny menu will appear with various items to pick from, which may be clicked or selected using the keyboard.
To use curly braces around a piece of text, select the text and press ALT + CMD + T, followed by A.
A live template may always be used if the text has to be surrounded by anything more complicated.
Key Promoter Plugin
To those who want to keep going down the rocky path of learning Android Studio shortcuts, Key Promoter is a plugin that will “assist” you in learning a shorthand every time you choose an action with the mouse.
The plugin accomplishes this by presenting large pop-ups that display the missed keyboard shortcut as well as the number of times the action has been performed without performing the keyboard shortcut. Key Promoter has a tiny menu on the right tool buttons that shows the number of missed shortcuts in order of significance.
Hidden Power of Double Shift
Searching for a shortcut is another method to learn it. By pressing SHIFT twice, the general search bar is opened, which may be used to seek up classes, files, symbols, and any other operation with a shortcut.
A general search may also be used to navigate the Android Studio tool windows. To launch Layout Inspector, for example, press SHIFT twice and type layout inspector.
The Final Thoughts!
We discussed some of our favourite Android Studio modifications in this post. However, Android Studio has a plethora of other features, and we've just scratched the surface. Android Studio recommends that you experiment with the parameters and learn as much as you can about the IDE. I feel that learning your IDE is just as important as learning to code. Do you have any personal favourites when it comes to customizations? We'd love to hear from you!
