Many indie devs miss the point that if they don't localize they lose a serious potential of organic app downloads.

An example from our private experiments

We launched two apps and measured their performance in the first 11 days. we made ZERO marketing in order to try and test the effects of MVL on a non promoted app.

The results speaks for themselves. one app was optimized only for English and the other was optimized for 12 languages.

No Localiziation except for English

You can see that there are a total of 6 downloads in the first 11 days.

App localization (MVL only) for 12 languages including English

Here you can see a staggering amount of 440 downloads! of which 179 are in the Chinese market, something that would have never happened without localization.
