How to Book Gorilla Permits in Uganda and Rwanda for 2023-2024

You can book gorilla permits in Uganda and Rwanda for 2023-2024 with Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) at cost of $700 USD, Rwanda Development Board (RDB) issues the gorilla permits at cost of $1500 USD. in Congo gorilla trekking permits costs $400 Usd, only that currently there is a war in DRC and gorilla trekking activities cannot be done.

Gorilla permits are government legal documents or cards issued by Wildlife authorities in Uganda and Rwanda, That allows tourists to access the gorilla national parks and spend a limited amount of time with gorilla groups in Bwindi National Park, Mgahinga national park for Uganda, Volcanoes national park Rwanda and Virunga ranges? Congo. But booking gorilla permits with the government authority may turn out to be cumbersome for you, therefore we recommend you to seek help from genuinely registered tour operator.

To book a gorilla permit by your self, you have to contact Uganda Wildlife Authority offices through their website, email, or phone by calling ?+256-414-355402/3/4/5 and you will talk to one person in reservations who will then tell you if gorilla permits are available. They will provide you with a form which you need to fill and then transfer funds to their account. Once they receive the money, they will then book your permit.

On arrival in Uganda, you have to go to their office in person with all your identifications to pick your gorilla permit. The only challenge with this method is that you might call and nobody picks due to the traffic caused by those calling reservation but please keep trying and someone will pick your phone.

Gorilla Permit Booking with Tour Operator.

To get a gorilla permit we highly recommend to seek help from a registered tour Operator to simplify the process for you, But operators usually charge a fee of $25-60 USD per-permit. You need to contact us to advise you on when to book your gorilla permit. It is agreed that for peak and high seasons, you need to book your gorilla permit at least 5 months in advance while in low seasons, you can even book it there and then.

High gorilla trekking seasons in Uganda are June, July, August, September and early November and then December, January and February. Gorilla permits tend to be very scarce and if you intend to trek gorillas during this month, you need to book them way back in advance. How much do gorilla permits cost in Uganda and Rwanda?

The cost for gorilla permits in Uganda for Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga National Park were increased by Uganda Wildlife Authority from USD $600 to $700 USD per person from july 2020. Rwanda gorilla permit for Volcanoes National Park cost USD $1500.

For gorilla habituation in Bwindi forest National park Uganda, the permit costs $1500USD (time spent is four hours, unlike gorilla trekking with takes only one hour.)

Uganda Wildlife Authority 2019 to 2020 has not offered discounted rates on gorilla trekking permits and chimpanzee tracking permits, the prices instead has been increased from $600 to $700 USD, and $200 for chimpanzee tracking, UWA has always been reviewing its prices and tariffs in previous years to $450 during low seasons, April and November but not this time.
