The internet is full of ways to make money. Freelancing, selling online, graphic designing, virtual assistants and so many more. One of the most popular ways is blogging. No matter what you hear though, blogging is not easy and definitely not a get rich quick scheme. It takes a ton of hours that you won’t get paid for right away and sometimes ever. But if you stick to it, blogging can be rewarding side income or for some a full time income.
There are many ways a blogger can make money. Every blogger will have a favorite way they prefer to monetize their blog or writing skills. Many will also tell you that they use a combination of many different revenue generators so they can make the most money from their blog. Here are some of the most commons ways that bloggers turn writing into cash.
Display Ads
Display Ads are something we have all seen before. These are also know as banner ads. When you visit a website, these are the ads you see usually at the top of a website or along the side. When blogging first started, these types of ads were the most common. In today’s era of blogging, these aren’t nearly as successful and many bloggers actually avoid them.
Pre-roll Ads
These are like mini TV commercials before videos. These are very common to see on YouTube. If you have ever clicked on a video and had to watch 5 seconds of an ad before the video, that was a pre-roll ad. These are popular because many people are watching videos online but the pay rate on them is not very good for most people.
Using Your Brand
This way of making money from blogging is becoming very popular. It basically involves companies or people paying you to use your brand or influence you have with your audience. For instance, lets say you have a blog about mountain climbing. Now say a company just launched a new product geared towards mountain climbers. This company would pay you a fee to either review their product, write an article about their product, promote on social media or in some other forms. This way they know they are connecting directly with the audience they want to reach, using you as the source since people trust you and your brand.
Affiliate Marketing
When people trust you they will listen to your recommendations and buy products you recommend or endorse. That is what affiliate marketing is. Let’s say you use a well known cloud storage provider for all of your stuff. You can let you customers know about their service and provide them with a link to sign up for there own account. When they use your link to sign up, you would receive a commission from this sale. This is a great way to make money and recommend products you like and use yourself.
Sell Products
A lot of bloggers will sell products of their own. They may write a book and sell that to their audience. Some create physical products that they will sell. Selling products is a great way to make money from a blog because you control the entire aspect of it. You can sell your products and make all the money compared to selling someone else product and only getting a piece of the profit from it.
