How Bitcoin ETF is going to impact the Crypto job market

Hold on to your horses; we can bet on the Bitcoin ETF! In an industry that's faced scams, hacks, and negative press in recent years, we should all take pride in the Bitcoin ETF as a significant acknowledgement of the fundamental changes it's bringing to traditional finance. Regardless of where you stand, I believe every individual who continues to believe in blockchain and Web3 should take a moment to recognize this major milestone—it's a testament to the collective work within the industry.

I'm incredibly passionate about this industry, and the more I learn, the stronger my passion grows. Previously, I ran a highly profitable recruitment business concentrating on Engineers. However, since discovering blockchain in 2019, my enthusiasm for it has persisted, remaining optimistic regardless of the market conditions.

I recently shared in my post: https://www.dhirubhai.net/feed/update/urn:li:activity:7128652523866869760/

that according to K33 Research, as of March 2023 there are only 190,000 people in the Crypto industry. I think this number is not encouraging given that there are 3.6 billion workforce in the world according to the Word bank:

Labour Force in the world between 1990 -2022. world bank data

As you can see, 190,000 represents a remarkably small number, reflecting the extensive job cuts and redundancies across nearly all the crypto companies I can think of.

On a daily basis, I speak to a lot of Crypto industry leaders. In these discussions, a recurring theme is the careful balancing act between future opportunities and current demands. What I mean by this is that almost everyone I speak to understands that sticking with the industry can lead to rapid advancements in their careers but current market conditions also make them ponder the future returns.

How might the Bitcoin ETF influence the job market in crypto? I recently posted about this on LinkedIn, and it's gaining traction. https://www.dhirubhai.net/posts/sam-wellalage-bsc-ma-936b6231_blockchain-crypto-jobmarket-activity-7133735177884704769-I8Lh?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_desktop

Having been in recruitment for over a decade now, I have had my fair share of bull and bear markets. I believe the Bitcoin ETC will impact positively in the job market for several reasons:

1. Market Growth: A Bitcoin ETF could attract more institutional investors and mainstream users. This increased participation and confidence in the market can lead to expanded operations within existing crypto companies, necessitating more employees to manage various aspects like customer support, compliance, and technical development.

2. Financial Services Demand: As more traditional financial institutions engage with Bitcoin through an ETF, there will likely be a surge in demand for specialised financial services catered to cryptocurrencies. This can result in the creation of new roles in financial advisory services, asset management, and regulatory compliance within the crypto space.

3. Business Expansion: A successful Bitcoin ETF can drive the growth of ancillary businesses related to cryptocurrency. This includes exchanges, custodial services, wallet providers, and analytics firms, which may require additional personnel to accommodate increased demand and expansion into new markets.

4. Innovation and Development: The influx of capital and interest sparked by a Bitcoin ETF can also foster innovation within the industry. Startups and entrepreneurs might seek to capitalise on this trend, creating new ventures and job opportunities in various domains like blockchain development, cybersecurity, and fintech.

While the crypto winter has been unprecedented, I believe that 2024 will usher in new opportunities, and as an industry, we must collaborate to yield positive outcomes for all.

It's essential to note that when the market gets busier, the need for top-notch talent rises sharply. It's critical to secure this talent now and be prepared. For any company, the worst-case scenario is leaving a crucial role unfilled for weeks or months. This can result in substantial revenue loss, lowered staff morale, and increased burnout rates.

At WorkInCrypto.Global, we specialize in recruiting exceptional senior talent for blockchain ventures ranging from 8-9 figure projects, boasting a stellar client portfolio transitioning from Web2 to Web3. If you're a crypto leader seeking a role in 2024 or a company aiming to secure niche talent, send me a message.
