How Big is the Problem in Your Mind?

Happy Monday!

Have you ever noticed that many people have the ability to make a big thing out of a small problem??Our?mind?is very powerful and if we don’t learn to control the way we think, we become a victim of our own worst imagination.

In your personal and in your professional life, you can either operate from a place of love and appreciation or from a place of fear and frustration. It’s a choice.

The Six Basic Fears identified by Napoleon Hill in his book “Think and Grow Rich” are Fear of:

  • Poverty
  • Criticism
  • Ill Health
  • Loss of Love
  • Old Age
  • Death

It has been said that FEAR can also stand for “False?Evidence?Appearing?Real”. If you want to imagine things, make sure you imagine good things. Awareness is the first step in the change process and it is good to be aware what's going on in your head.

Mental strategies are still a foreign concept in our corporate world and increasing awareness on this topic is important.

Here are 3 basic steps to become better in mastering your brain:

  1. Realize that your thoughts are not facts – thoughts are just thoughts and I encourage you to choose good ones.
  2. Observe your emotional state – you cannot feel bad if you think good thoughts. Your emotions are the shortcut to know what you give your attention to - the good, the bad or the ugly.
  3. Reframe your negative thoughts into positive ones – for example: “This will never work” or “I know that I can make it work”. You assign the meaning to a situation.

How you think becomes a habit and you spend most of your life inside your head. Why not make it a nice place to be?

Food for Thought:

“When leading a team, failure can come in many forms:

  • Making bad financial decisions
  • Bringing in the wrong people
  • Overpromising and underdelivering
  • Inconsistency
  • Not properly communicating the vision and what everyone’s role is in mission success

Be as prepared as you possibly can and make adjustments along the way.”

Some more thoughts on the power in thinking We all have an apothecary inside our heads, with our thoughts we can mix a healthy elixir, or deadly toxins. Choose carefully. "Such as are your habitual thoughts, such also will be the character of your mind; for the soul is dyed by your thoughts." Marcus Aurelius. "We are what we think. All that we are arises with our thoughts. With our thoughts we create our world,” Buddha "Our best friends and worst enemies are our thoughts. A thought can do us more good than a doctor or a faithful friend. It can also do you more harm than a brick.” Dr Frank Crane “The mind is its own place, and in itself can make a heaven of hell, a hell of heaven.” John Milton. ?"Whether you think you can, or you can’t, you are right.” H. Ford.
