Are you doing a job or building your own enterprise?
Are you working on your own or someone else's life mission?
Have you found your inner potential and deeper talents?
Are you happy and fulfilled with your career?
These are some of the most important question that many young professionals are asking themselves. All of us are at different levels in these questions. Some have become reasonably successful, some are yet to reach their goals, and some are yet to take the first step. But the most important question for all is about the fulfilment from career.
One of the most common trap that most people doing jobs get into is that "I will be satisfied if I have my own startup." This is the biggest trap for our generation. Without doing any self-enquiry, without understanding what is one's basic nature, people jump into doing their own startup.
There are plenty of people who have found reasonable success with their ventures, but are they happy and fulfilled? The answer is mostly NO, why?
Because unless we understand our basic nature and 'The art of fulfilment', we will end up running a race which will nowhere lead us to happiness and fulfilment.
Finding your Basic Nature - The gift that you have:
As far as work personality is concerned most people fall in one of the following three categories:
1. Talent:
- You love creating things using your technical or artistic skill.
- For example, a coder, an artist, a web designer etc.
- In this case, expression of your creativity would give you fulfilment rather than running a business or leading a team.
2. Manager/Leader:
- You love leading a team of people to reach the desired goals.
- For example, a manager leading his or her team to achieve certain goals.
- In this case, team work would give you more fulfilment rather than using your skills or running a business.
3. Entrepreneur:
- You love bringing ideas and visions into functional reality.
- For example, any great entrepreneur like Ritesh Agarwal, Kunal Shah etc.
- In this case, building enterprise and taking it to next levels would bring you more happiness and fulfilment rather than just leading a team or expressing your technical or artistic skills.
If you don't realise your inner gift as a professional and directly jump into what everyone else is doing, you are doomed to fail in living a fulfilling career.
Although, when it comes to life fulfilment career is just one component of it. I will elaborate more about living a fulfilling life in my next article on 'The art of fulfilment'. Stay tuned :)
