How the Bell UH-1 “Huey” Became the DC-3 of the Helicopter World
This helicopter is synonymous with the war in Vietnam and the unmistakable noise made by its main rotor blades is a glorious sound to anyone who served during that conflict. The Bell UH-1 Iroquois (nicknamed the “Huey”) is a utility military helicopter designed and produced by the American aerospace company Bell Helicopter. It is the first member of the prolific Huey family, as well as the first turbine-powered helicopter in service with the United States military. Learn how it became the “go to” answer for a new type of “air mobility” warfare and why it developed into the aviation workhorse it continues as today. 2 年Amazing presentation at the Palm Springs Air Museum with Dr. George Haloulakos! A must watch! https://youtu.be/Zxj6JdW1xhM
Our Pembroke Welsh Corgi, Cali the California Girl, gave out lots of hugs to the Vietnam Veterans in attendance. An honor to meet so many who served as pilots and crewmembers in the "Slicks," "Gunships" and "Dust-Offs." In the hangar where we made our presentation, we were flanked by two "Huey" helicopters and parked just outside the hangar door, was Cali's namesake jet aircraft -- Convair F-106 Delta Dart "California Girl."
