How to become a hotspot destination

In a recent article of the Artful Living Magazine (see link below), #Montenegro is named the new French Riviera. This messaging was a clear surprise to me. Is it that easy to become a hotspot these days??While having coffee at the renowned Badrutt's Palace hotel, I was reflecting about the success factors of becoming a hotspot destination.

Besides an impressive investment in a luxury hotel infrastructure, restaurants and spas during the last years, it seems that Montenegro is missing a big piece in becoming a hotspot destination: The ecosystem of the C?te d'Azur is something that you cannot build from scratch and implement in a relatively short time. Influencing the long term consumer behaviour is something that needs to be cultivated over decades if you want to reach a lasting impact. And you cannot cultivate it mainly by doing smart publications. You need to build a lasting ecosystem that actually works very efficiently: an ecosystem with stakeholders like fancy branded restaurants, bars, nightclubs, glamorous events, a great network of influencers, celebrities and a source of a younger crowd, just to name a few. In addition, you need to invest in an outstanding customer experience. When you want your guests to return on a regular basis, this is only the first step towards community building.

It is understandable that creating a hotspot is a long journey and a huge investment which involves great destination marketing, joint hospitality planning and excellent aligned execution of multiple players as the development of?#dubai?shows.?

The continuing success of destinations like?#stmoritz?#fortedeimarmi #gstaad #aspen #puntadeleste?#mykonos?#ibiza?- just to name a few - did not come overnight. I personally think that Montenegro is on a good way, but it will take quite some time for them to play in the hotspot league.

An inspiring analysis Detlef Schmidt! While it's not easy to create an ecosystem, the resulting benefits are also significant. I find your article really eye opening regarding the different partners and stakeholders needed to create a hotspot for travellers. There is probably some experience and expertise needed in order to not make the mistakes that others already made before....
