How to become a great speaker.
People who talk too much say less.
We know them all. The ones who are talking all the time. Using empty words and hollow phrases. The moment that you want to say something they have already started a new sentence. You feel ignored. In the end you stop listening and you start thinking about things that really matter to you. Your mind starts to wander.
People who talk less say more.
When you have something to say choose your moment. Make your words scarce. Your message will be more powerful. That is what great leaders do. They selden speak but you will remember their words as you will remember where their words were spoken. 'I have a dream....Only a small step for man.....Ich bin ein Berliner.....
Listening is key.
Great speakers do 99% listening and 1% talking. They mostly ask questions. They are curious about people. They want to learn and connect the dots. See the greater picture. Then they can speak and touch the hearts of the people.
Leave a mark not a scar.
You can be a great speaker too. Talk less, say more, start listening and choose your moments! Don't hurt people with an endless blur of words. Make their day:
'Speak in such a way that they will remember where they were when they heard you speak for the first time!'
