Use These Ideas To Become A Great Leader
I had been working in leadership positions for more than a decade now. I see so many times new managers being put into leadership positions with no prior experience and no training causing frustration, poor performance and chaos on production floor.
Leadership isn't something we are born with, it's something we learn and develop as we go along with our career and life experiences, unfortunately 70% of new managers fail to become inspirational leaders.
From my experience learning to be the good leader that people want is sometimes difficult. You need to know what qualities leaders have, and discipline yourself to do the right things. You need to know how to be a great leader, as well as why it is important.
Leaders can find the talent in their team. You should always surround yourselves with talented people who can help you meet your objectives. This strategy works if you are hiring people or contracting someone to do a small job.
If you lead, or manage, a group of people, let them know how much you appreciate them. It does not take long to write a note of thanks, but it might mean the world to someone who's working for you. And, the impact that they can have on morale - and by extension, productivity - can be dramatic.
Do not act in any manner that seems deceitful. If you wish for people to trust you when you're leading them, you have to make sure you follow through when you make a promise. When you promise great results, you must provide them.
The people beneath you judge you by your decisions. Who you fire, hire and promote affects your reputation. Opting to show favoritism instead of finding praise for all employees based on individual accomplishments can be detrimental.
I always tell new managers to listen to their employees. They can give you great tips and ideas for what to do. Let your team know what is expected and then listen to their suggestions.
Effective communication with the team is key in order to be a great leader. Try to make sure that you give your team the right information they need to do their tasks, especially deadlines. Keep checking to make sure projects stay on track.
