Do you want to start a freelance content writing business, but you're afraid of putting yourself out there because you have no experience?
Or you feel like others are way better than you?
In this video, I will be giving you 8 steps to go from being afraid to show up, to full time content writer even if you have 0 experience.

I used to be a horrible writer and super scared to be on videos. I had low self esteem when it came to putting myself out on social media and was so scared of what people would think.
But if I can overcome that and become an amazing content writer and creator, "not my words, but what others say" and create a successful business around the thing that I use to dread, then you can too.
First of all, who is a content creator?
A Content creator is anyone who puts out content. Whether you are a coach, commentator, consultant, fisherman, as long as you are putting out content, yes, you are a content creator.
So let's get into how you can ditch your fears and crush it as a content creator and start a freelance content writing business.
#1: Get over your fears.
You probably have a lot of fears like, no experience, what would your family and friends think, afraid of looking or sounding stupid, no time, etc.
Those are all fears the best of the best people faced. The only way you get past that is by doing it.
There'll always be people better than you, but there'll also be those who do not know what you know. These are the people you want to focus on.
Not everyone will like what you do, your family might discourage you, or think you've gone crazy. But at the end of the day, it's your choice, your decision, your life and YOU have to live with that.
You would probably look weird or not sound as polished as others on video, or write as well as others. That comes with experience. If you do not start putting out content, you will never get to the point where you feel confident about your work.
#2: What's the IMPACT you want to create?
You need to think of your why. Why do you want to be a content writer, or become a content creator? Go beyond only wanting to have an extra source of income.
What is the impact you want to create? If God forbid you were no longer here tomorrow, what do you want people to remember about you? This is what will keep you going even before you start seeing a monetary return on your efforts.
#3: Pick a Niche.
Find a niche or a specific topic to create content on. This is extremely important. And in choosing a niche, you really want to consider this....
Is it something you love doing, love talking about and love writing about? You might have so many hobbies and so many things you're interested in, however, these aren't things you are more than happy to talk about everyday, all day. So pick a niche that you like talking about, writing about and learning about.
(I talk more about how to find a niche in this video here)
#4: Find your audience.
The 3rd thing we're going talk about is knowing your audience.
If your goal is to monetize your content or your skill, which I totally recommend, you want to make sure you know the particular audience you are trying to attract.

Even if your goal is just to build an audience, or become an influencer, you still want to build an audience of like minded people. And then when or if you are ready to monetize your skill, you can even go deeper into specifics of who you want to work with.
Trust me knowing from the get go the person you want in your audience, and the person you want to help or leave an impact on is extremely important. This is how you build a community of people who really care about what you do.
#5: Pick your best method of communicating.
This might not be a very popular opinion, but it will save you so much time, stress and get you better results.
Focus on your best method of communication.
If you are better at communicating in writing than in speech, then you want to create more written content rather than videos or graphics, and vice versa.
This doesn't mean you don't create any other form of content, it means you capitalize on what you are good at. DO NOT pick something just because it's comfortable. It's about being effective with your communication. If you are more effective communicating through video rather than writing, then you want to do more videos.
Note that you are encouraged to create all forms of content, but capitalize on your genius zone. For some of you, it I'll take you trying it all before you figure out what suits you best. But you can only figure that out if you get off your butt and start creating.
#6: Pick ONE platform
The platform you choose should be based on where your audience hangs out, and your most effective method of communication.
If you are great with visual content like designs, then Instagram should be the best platform for you because that's where you'll shine most.
If writing is what you're really good at, LinkedIn should be your platform of choice because it caters to an audience that loves to read, long form videos, you want to be on YouTube and short form videos, you want to be on Tiktok, and so on.
You do not need to be on all platforms. I know Gary Vee says you should, but I disagree with him on this because you are just one person and it's not sustainable. Pick one platform when you are just starting out, and when you are comfortable and consistent on that platform, then you can add one more, and even more when you grow and are able to get help.
#7: Read, Read, Read.
Apart from the fact that reading is good for you because it makes you more knowledgeable, it gives you content ideas and builds your confidence.
Because you have this wide range of knowledge, you can get into conversations and give your own opinions.
Read books, articles, blog posts, content from others in your field that you love. You learn from others before you. It doesn't mean you should copy them, but you learn from what they are doing and as you start putting out content, you develop your own style.
#8: Start Creating.
You can read all the articles and books in the world, download all the free resources on the internet, attend all the free masterclasses or webinars, buy course after course, after course, but if you do not actually start creating content, all of that means nothing. You'll still be at the same position month after month, year after year until you start taking action.
You only get better with experience. And give yourself grace and time to grow and succeed. No one was successful overnight. It takes time, patience, consistency, failing and learning from your mistakes and doing it again and again until you get it right. And you will get it right as long as you're consistent, determined and persistent in your desire to achieve your goals.
