Recently I got to sit down and record a podcast with Eric Edmeades. If any of you have heard of WildFit you might be aware of Eric’s work helping business leaders eat in a way that supports better performance and decision making.?

Well during our conversation Eric talked about many aspects of business and life and I wanted to share some of his thoughts with you...

Would you go kitesurfing without having been to even one lesson? If the answer is yes, you are probably in for a world of pain. Eric highlights the importance of getting advice and even having a mentor when you are starting something new.

And this applies to EVERYTHING IN LIFE! Having someone who has more experience in that new thing you want to do is invaluable.?

Whether it’s learning a new sport, starting a new business, becoming an entrepreneur… Having a mentor can accelerate the process, increase your productivity, and allow you to have more fun!

As entrepreneurs, we’re playing at the HIGHEST LEVEL. The billionaires of the world are all entrepreneurs, and you need to eat, think, and live like an elite athlete to win in this competitive arena.?

It’s all about PREPARATION and this applies to many things, including building the right architecture for your business and creating a great workplace culture.?

Another part of your life that requires preparation for success is what you eat. Eric has always believed that entrepreneurs and high-level business owners need to eat as if they were elite athletes. Elite entrepreneurs need to make decisions quickly and without the brain fog. That’s why he encourages everyone to think about how you can eat to fuel your body for peak performance rather than turning to food for emotional support.?

Eric isn’t like most “gurus” nowadays though, he walks the talk and shares amazing personal stories rather than just statistics to show you how you can achieve the same level of performance as him.?

One final tip he discussed with me for better business growth was recognising emotional triggers. Rather than most people, he doesn’t think you should remove these triggers from your life entirely.?

Eric discusses that for our own growth we need to strategically face these triggers, almost like a form of exposure therapy so that when they pop up during critical moments we are able to think with logic rather than just react emotionally.?

Can you think of some instance where you reacted emotionally when it would have been better to take and breath before you responded?

I highly encourage you to check out the full podcast episode at Barrels and Business, until then I hope you were able to take Eric’s word to reflect on some areas in your life that you may not have known were holding you back in your business!
