How to Balance Family, Fitness, Making Money and Life in General

These past 2 weeks have been insane.

I'm talking INSANE.

Like if you combined White Walkers with Negan level Insanity.

It started with me taking a full-speed head-butt to the eye about 11 days ago.

I was practicing some MMA training with my good friend Carlton.

We happened to do the same exact move at the same exact time and the top of his head smashed into my eye at full speed.

Carlton is about 215 lbs of pure muscle.

I'm 215 lbs too.

Blood poured down my face.

4 stitches later I was looking like Captain Jack Sparrow.

The next day my son had a fever of 103.

Advil and Tylenol weren't cutting it.

We took him to see his pediatrician who quickly diagnosed him with a "virus" that would go away.

Well it didn't go away.

4 days later he was still battling the fever off and on.

So we took him back to the same doctor who said "this will go away soon - just relax - it's cold and flu season".

Great.

Thanks doc.

Glad that PHD of yours is paying off.

Next morning my son's face is blue and he's shivering uncontrollably.

By mid-day he's got the fever again.

Off the to emergency room we go with no clue as to what we're going to find out.

Well, thank god for LEGIT doctors.

They took an x-ray and he had severe pneumonia.

"motherfuckers" was all I could think.

Not gonna lie - the 21 year old me wanted to drive to the pediatrician and inflict physical harm on the idiot doctor who rushed us out 2x.

My son was lucky to be alive.

All I could do was thank God for medical professionals who know what to do in crisis like that.

2 major events - but the storm wasn't over.

My wife was due to have an emergency procedure done that just couldn't wait yesterday.

We thought about pushing it back, but her health is too important.

So she had it done.

And now she's out of commission for a bit.

Which leaves me, her in-laws- and her sister to watch our boys. (Thank god for family).

But guess what?

There's still work to be done.

I still have VIP clients who need my help each day.

I still need to workout and maintain my fitness levels for both my sanity and my business.

I still need to pay my team.

I still need to make money

I still need to make sure my family is taken care of.

I still need create valuable content for you and other people who need help.

You might be thinking - "how the hell does Josiah do it?"

And to be frank with you - sometimes I don't know how I do it.

There are weeks like this past one where I'm truly just running on fumes.

So I sat down today to give you a hit-list of how I structure my life to ensure my family is taken care of, my wife still wants to have sex with me, my body is still in shape, and my business and clients get the best service on earth.

Ready? Here we go...

1) MAKE A SCHEDULE

Seriously - if you can't pull up your phone or day-planner and know exactly what you should be doing and when...

That's step #1.

Create your weekly schedule and make sure your spouse and kids are on the same page.

Add EVERYTHING to the schedule.

Your workout time.

Meal time.

Drive time.

It takes 20 minutes MAX to put it together but it seriously keeps things organized and clear.

2) TO-DO LISTS

I keep a running to-do list in my Notes App on my phone.

Things pop up and random requests get made.

I don't want to be bothered with remembering 8 different things.

So I write it down in my notes and knock them out each week.

To add to that...

Be ok with not getting EVERY little thing done.

Celebrate getting the important stuff done.

Don't let a couple minor missed tasks get you down.

Knock them out the next time you have a free block.

3) SCHEDULE DATES

My wife and I have a really cool strategy for making sure dates happen.

I break it down in my coaching programs, but part of the strategy is this:

-We schedule dates ahead of time instead of hoping for some free time to appear.

I also do this with my boys.

I schedule one on one time on the calendar to get face time with them.

I put my phone away and focus on them and only them during that time.

60 minutes of play time with my boys equals 600 hours in their mind.

Seriously - be present with your family and they will be thrilled.

4) DAILY THEMES and TASKS

For my business I have daily themes.

Certain tasks get done on certain days.

For example - Thursday is VIDEO day.

I get 99% of my videos filmed on Thursday for client courses and YouTube.

Each day has a theme.

On top of that I have a "MUST DO MASTER LIST" of things that must get done daily.

For example:

-Check client emails 1 time in the morning and 1 time before closing time.

-Instagram post

And there's a few more of course...

You get the idea.

5) HIRE HELP

Hiring other people doesn't just apply to business owners.

We hire a maid 1-2 times a month for $100.

That's a couple hours of work that we don't have to do.

There's massive value in that.

I have a whole team that helps me with business stuff that I'm not great at.

Or for things that I don't have time to do.

You don't have to be a millionaire to hire people for tasks.

Think about things you need done more efficiently and hire help for those things.

That way you free up time to handle bigger and more important tasks.

6) REFUEL

You can't expect to show up for others if you don't show up for yourself.

I heard a saying once:

"You eat like crap and you're too tired to workout so you eat like crap and feel too tired to workout"

The message is this...

Eat well.

Train and workout.

That way your energy, mental clarity, and drive to help others is on point.

You can't quench thirst from an empty cup.

Fuel your tank.

Do it daily.

7) TAKE TIME OFF

Yes, even I take time off.

Sundays I try to avoid work.

I'm not perfect at this.

But "Social Media FREE Sunday" is something I'm going to implement.

Saturdays are usually for wrapping up miscellaneous tasks.

But Sundays are to recharge and spend time with family.

Make sure to get downtime.

Even Usain Bolt can't sprint non-stop.

Don't think you're any different - get rest and recovery in your life.

Ok..wow...that's a lot of value for you to digest.

Hope this helps.
