How AWS And Azure Competing Is Improving Public Cloud Adoption

The more AWS and Azure compete to win customers, the greater the growth in public cloud adoption. This week Cowen published the study Public Cloud V: AWS And Azure Still Leading The Pack, in this study it revealed surprising and key insights, from cloud spending trends to vendor positioning. Here are some of the key takeaways:

Existing Public Cloud customers predict spending will grow 16% year-over-year in 2017. Mid-Market Public Cloud customers predict spending to increase by 18% this year as well as Public cloud providers to see growth in their global operations.

AWS dominates awareness levels with SMBs who have existing Public Cloud deployments, with Microsoft Azure the most known and considered in enterprises. Across all companies that have adapted to Public Cloud, the most well known enterprises were revealed to be AWS and Microsoft Azure, with Google Cloud Platform having the strongest awareness levels in SMB's.

Microsoft is the most-used Public Cloud and the most likely to be purchased or renewed by 28% of all respondents. Although AWS is the most highly reviewd across the platforms, Microsoft Azure was more used and most likely to be purchased or renewed.
