Moving to a new country or state, or even a new home, can feel overwhelming for the senses. Everything looks unfamiliar. Smells, sounds, temperature, architecture, plants and flowers, and so much more.
This is one of the times I suggest you go for regular awareness walks.
Put on some comfortable walking shoes and take a slow paced 20-minute walk around your new neighbourhood.
As you walk, without judgement, and with curiosity, notice your surroundings.
Notice the front doors of the other houses, the colours people have painted their homes, the materials the houses are built with.
Notice the trees and shrubs in the gardens.
Notice the various fences and garden ornaments,
Notice the cars in the street, the pavement, and far away buildings.
Try this exercise each day for a week or two.
The varying times of day and varying temperatures make this kind of walk even more interesting.?There can be so many things to look at.
The more familiar a place feels, the less overwhelming it can feel.
