How to Avoid Refined White Sugar in Your Diet

How to Avoid Refined White Sugar in Your Diet

Your body has the ability to heal itself, if you don’t get in the way. You get in the way of perfect health by eating the foods that your body doesn’t want, thinking self-deprecating thoughts, and subjecting yourself to stress.

In my experience as a practitioner, ingesting products which contain refined white sugar is one of the top ways that we get in the way of vibrant health. Could refined white sugar be affecting you? I recommend eliminating it for at least six weeks to see how many "problems" or “dis-eases” resolve themselves.

Tips for Eliminating Refined White Sugar from Your Diet

Refined sugar is not limited to the "sugar" listed in ingredient labels—it also includes brown sugar sold in grocery store baking aisles. Other refined sweeteners to watch out for include glucose, fructose, and dextrose.

Here are some tips for cutting out refined sugar:

·?????? Recipe Substitutions: If a recipe calls for sugar, you can substitute half the amount with raw sugar (also known as dehydrated cane juice, organic cane sugar, or turbinado). Alternatively, use half the amount of honey or maple syrup (but remember to reduce the liquid in the recipe by one-quarter cup for every cup of honey or maple syrup used). You can also sweeten dishes with rice syrup, barley malt, date sugar, dried fruit, fresh fruit, fruit juice, or even rice milk.

·?????? Hidden Sugar Sources: White sugar is often hidden in condiments like mayonnaise, ketchup, and salad dressings. When you have finished the condiments that are in your fridge make a point to replace them with the white-sugar-free versions.

·?????? Jams and Jellies: Many store-bought jams and jellies contain refined sugar, but there are all-fruit varieties available, sweetened with concentrated grape or apple juice.

·?????? Avoid Artificial Sweeteners: Be especially cautious about consuming artificial sweeteners, because they are poisonous to the body.
