He's in a pretty bad place, emotionally, physically and mentally.
To top it all off, his ex-wife's trying to sue him, and his current wife wants to leave him.
He got fired from his job because he lost his cool and had to run away for a few weeks to cool off.
Now he is back and ready to take action but he is feeling super defeated and negative.
What can I tell him that will make him be able to move forward with his head up high?
He feels like a total loser. Like this is the end and that all his cards are crashing down on him.
Rock bottom is an understatement.
The feelings that are pouring out of him are anger, resentment, resignation, and deep sadness.
This is a common story I hear when people are in the depths of failure.
It’s really hard to be positive when your whole world is falling apart.
Some might venture to say that it’s impossible to be happy when everything you built has been destroyed and you cannot find a way to find a sense of pride in anything.
I asked him, “What do you really want right now?”
He said that he wants to stop being negative, but he feels like he is stuck and only sees darkness.
I told him that if his body is not in a state of high energy and he's not in control of his focus, he will stay in that low-energy form of fear.
Personally, I run outdoors and connect with nature. I focus on the small things in life that I can be grateful for and I use empowering language to help create a better future.
Some might say that it's easy for me to do these things, now that I have a thriving business and I am mentally fit.
It is always easier said than done. If you want results, you have to do things, especially taking massive action when you have all the reasons in the world not to take action. When everything is telling you to give up, you need to find the strength to keep pushing.
Here are 10 things you can do to change your feelings from negative to positive, no matter what the current circumstance.
- Realize that there are no negative or positive people. There are only thoughts and feelings that are empowering or disempowering. You either have habits to think thoughts that make you feel good or that make you feel not so good. To replace the habits of worry, you must replace those thoughts with new ones. That means you need to consciously think empowering thoughts proactively. Start by repeating this question. “What is great about my current situation?” The quality of your life is determined by the quality of the questions that you ask.
- Get your body in shape and push hard every day. This means you must be breaking a sweat daily to get the hormones that make you feel good flowing. Natural feel-good chemicals are really good at making you feel good.
- Do not try to stop thinking. Instead, focus on your breath. Take deep consecutive breaths and feed your brain with lots of oxygen. The more oxygen you take in, the clearer you will be able to think. Become aware of your body and focus on it, instead of focusing on the problems in your head.
- Read a motivational book by Napoleon Hill, Tony Robbins, or anyone that inspires you. Reading books is a great way to get your mind off whatever you are thinking about and become totally engrossed in someone else's world. Read a book that you've read in the past and go deeper.
- Watch motivational videos on youtube and let the positive language of empowerment seep into your subconscious. There are so many great videos that you can watch, just by searching for motivation or positive videos. Getting inspired means connecting with someone's positive message.
- Find someone that is less fortunate than you and see how you can help them. When you focus on other people's problems, yours become much smaller. Helping other people just feels good and it's also the right thing to do.
- Getting things off your mind and onto paper will help you see what you are thinking and let you analyze your thoughts. It's hard to break down your thought process when you are in your own head. Get it all out of your system and write it down. Then go back and read it, you will be shocked, awed and surprised by what you wrote.
- Listen to music and dance a bit. Get into the zone with some tunes that make you happy. Music is powerful and can change your mood instantly. You just have to let the music take hold of you and dance to the rhythm.
- Spend time with people who are generally positive. Call them, meet them and be around them. Those people give off positive energy and are usually very generous. We are mirrors, and we want to mirror people that have what we want, especially those feelings.
- Buy yourself something nice, like a treat. Don't beat yourself up for being in your situation. Circumstances are often not a result of anything that you've done. Shit happens and sometimes you step on it. Be kind to yourself, forgive yourself for the mistakes you've made and realize that you are only human. You can only learn from the times you fail, so learn something and celebrate your findings.
If none of those tips work to make you feel a bit better, drink water. You might be dehydrated! A 5% drop in hydration is a 30% drop in energy. I write all about it in High Energy Secrets.
I hope this helps you. Remember that mere knowledge is not power. Only applied knowledge can help you create results in your life, so the key is to take action right now.
What do you do to feel better when you are feeling down? I'd love to hear from you. Looking forward to seeing your comments.
