How To Avoid Ending Up In Court Over A Parenting Covid-19 Vaccination Decision

Scott Hasting and his wife were vaccinated for Covid-19 without hesitation. But with the vaccine soon-to-be-available to kids ages 5 and up, the question of whether or not to vaccinate their 7-year-old son hasn’t been quite as simple to make.?

“It has caused a few heated discussions between the two of us,” Hastings admitted. “Though we believe in Science, I fear that there might be some adverse side effects that might happen to our son if he takes the jab.”

His wife, on the other hand, believes their son should be vaccinated as soon as it’s available to him. She wants him to be able to spend time more freely with his friends, and for the family as a whole to be able to return to a pre-Covid lifestyle.

They aren’t the first couple to disagree on vaccinations for their children, especially as the Covid-19 vaccine nears being rolled out for younger children. But the question of how families should address these disagreements—especially when they become contentious—isn’t as simple as some would like.
