A growing number of Industries have more job openings than people to fill them. In 2021, 4 million people quit their jobs in the United States. This includes education, manufacturing, retail, and even health services.?


Robotics may have a bad reputation of stealing peoples jobs, but it helps supplement workforces lacking in qualified employees.?


Automation frees up skilled workers for more critical tasks. Many industries, such as manufacturing, have repetitive tasks that are needed to complete the process,? but thanks to automation, they don't have to take up the skills or time of an employee better suited for more complex or critical work.?


Automation helps reduce injuries in the workplace. Many industries have production methods that are dangerous to humans. Safety precautions are not accident-proof. There were 395,300 workplace injuries reported in the manufacturing space in 2021. Even skilled positions that can’t be fully automated can be made safer with the use of robotics.?


The use of automation and robotics is appealing to the younger generation. It’s no secret that Gen Z has grown up in a world full of technology. Using automation tools can help identify a company as forward-thinking and tech-savvy, and that's more likely to be appealing to people who’ve grown up in a digital environment.?


There is no simple one-fits-all approach to defeating the labor shortages. However, automation should be an important first step for companies trying to overcome the labor shortages.
