Very often we receive the requirement to update transaction OB08 (Exchange Rates) automatically.
It seems that is a little bit hidden, but SAP provides a standard customizing that allow using standard transaction TBD4 in an automatic way, by populating the table TCURR (transaction OB08).
The specific customizing is under: Financial Supply Chain Management / Cash and Liquidity Management / Cash Management / Market Data / Datafeed.
First we have to define the "Technical Settings" and then the "Translation Table". In the first option, we have to define the connections and the Datafeeds to use. The second option is more functional, since you define there the exchange rates to automate, the exchange rate type, the date and if it is direct or indirect.
Once you have the connection and the currencies already customized, you have to save a variant for transaction TBD4. The last step is to create a daily job in transaction SM36, that runs the program RFTBDF07 (transactionTBD4) with the variant that you already created. In this way every day, at the same time, you will get all your exchange rates updated in an automatic way in transaction OB08.
This is really easy and allows to automate a task that is executed daily in every SAP installation around the world.

I hope this helps!
