Now you don’t have to work for an airline to get amazing prices on First Class & Business Class travel. Most people don’t know this; there are a number of special tools you can use to get ultra-low cost travel in Business and First, for just a little more than Economy class prices. The secret is to know which ‘insider’ tools to use, and how to use them.
As an Airbus A380 Captain I’m fortunate to work for a major carrier, so I get often low-cost travel on my days off. However, there are times I need to purchase an air ticket with my own funds. That’s when I get creative, and hunt for the best possible deal. Here’s how I do it;
My first go-to tool when searching for First & Business airline seats is the Kayak app (available at Apple app store & Android on Google Play).
Here’s some recent examples of ultra-low-cost one-way luxury tickets I found on Kayak (please keep in mind these are FIRST CLASS or BUSINESS tickets, not Economy);
The secret to getting the best prices on Kayak is to look for green dots under the dates displayed, to get the best deal possible. You don’t have to travel on those exact days - it’s just that those are the best if you’re looking to save money.
In Kayak, when selecting your travel dates, set the app to +/- 2 days or greater, to allow some flexibility & lower prices for you.
Are there any downsides? Yes, you may not be able to travel on your exact desired days, and flying First especially, you may go on an indirect route. But does it really matter if your trip takes a few hours longer & you (may) have to change planes enroute, if you can sleep in a lie-flat bed, eat & drink like royalty - while others are fighting over the armrest in Economy?
Give Kayak a try. Like me, you may be amazed at how you can fly in First Class for a fraction of the prices others are paying for the seat next to you. Please do LIKE & SHARE this article if you'd like to see more money-saving travel tips like this in your news feed.
