How to Announce Your New Website Launch — 5 Strategic Ways

21 November, 2022 — the day we’ve all been waiting for — the Qatar World Cup is finally on its way.

We’re scrambling to buy tickets and already booking flights. The lodging rates are inflated, yet we can’t contain our excitement in anticipation of witnessing the best in the world. After all, it’s the beautiful game that unites the world like no other.

It could be Messi’s final World Cup too.

As we wait for the 2022 games, some of us have already started planning our itineraries for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. In a first, 3 countries — the U.S., Canada, and Mexico will host the 2026 World Cup.

We’re years away from greatness unfolding, but our zeal for the sport is at an all-time high.

Speaking of years, let’s travel a few back.

In 2019, Kim Kardashian (then West) launched Skims. The clothing line includes shorts, bodysuits, bras, and more and has recently introduced swimwear too.

Yet, we’d been hearing about it months before the launch. It wasn’t only because Kim was married to one of the highest-paid rappers of all time or that she had already built an empire.

The World Cup and Kim Kardashian have one thing in common that worked for them — the undeniable power of social media.

But this isn’t about football, the KUWTK star, nor only social media. It’s about how to put yourself out there. This is about getting people excited about your brand and, in this specific instance, your website.

Whether launching a new website or revamping an old one, it’s always great to announce the launch with a bang.

Let’s get started.

Use social media extensively

The world is your oyster. If you don’t leverage social media in this day and age, what’s the point of being alive at such a great time to be alive? Remember that everything you do on the internet has a way of returning to social media if you so want it.

Be aggressive. One of the biggest mistakes one can make when launching a website is to announce it on the day of the launch. Start weeks, even months in advance. This way, you have enough time to build momentum and set a hard deadline for the team.

Identify which demographic you want to target first. Then create a social media strategy for different platforms. One of the best ways to gain traction is to circulate pocket-sized shareable content. Create infographics about the service you offer or exciting stats and facts. Insert the launch date of the website to get people talking.

Cash in on the crazy

Remember back in March when Will Smith slapped Chris Rock Square across the face during the 94th Academy Awards? Of course, you do.

It became the only fodder that anyone needed then and birthed a?website, where the user could slap Chris Rock’s face to see how fast they could go. The UI of the website is straightforward. A plain background with a yellow hand emoji and a small cut-out of the comedian’s face.

While it may seem counterintuitive, you can latch on to any current event to announce your website launch and generate buzz. After all, there’s enough crazy to go around.

You just have to step on a bee to find out.

Send out emailers

Wondering if newsletters are relevant in 2022? You’ll be happy to note that they are. Approximately,?309.6 billion emails?were received daily in 2021. In 2022, the numbers are likely to increase to 333.2 billion.

So, whether you like it or not, emailers are here to stay. This doesn’t mean that you should restrict yourself. Promotional emailers are the most popular ones. And if you don’t promote yourself, who will? Each newsletter or emailer should answer the question — what’s in it for the reader?

To ensure that you’re creating an emailer that’s hard to skip, it must possess five qualities:

· A timeless yet contemporary design (UI designers, we hope you’re paying attention)

· Brevity

· Storytelling

· Value to the reader, and

· A call to action

Conduct an interactive survey

Involve your user or audience as much as possible in the process. Ask them what they would like to see on the new website. You can host an interactive live webinar as you answer queries from the participants on-the-go, or you could also have them fill out interactive forms. Give them a chance to be a contributor to the elements that will finally appear on your website.

Instead of straightforward questions and text fields, incorporate imagery, icons, and buttons on the form to make it a more immersive process.

Bring out the BIG GUNS

By that, we mean rope in an influential person who knows what they are talking about to spread awareness about your website launch or have them launch it, too.

Why?

Because when the greats talk, people listen.

Because they add value.

Because people want to be like them.

Announcing a website launch is more challenging than designing and building the website — there’s more than meets the eye. A million fragmented pieces come together to become what is one cohesive whole — the website you’ve envisioned. Unfortunately, not everybody has the knack or guile of a smooth salesperson. Selling your best wares is always the hardest thing to do.

Start with storytelling. Talk about each element in your design process and the thought behind the UI — even if only one person is listening. Sometimes, it’s all you need. At?Pepper Square, we’re all about weaving stories with design thinking. Want to learn more about how to take your new website to bigger heights? Come,?let’s talk.
