How do you access posts? It's really easy. First of all, if you're in your front page on LinkedIn, near the top, you're going to see the ability to publish a post or if you've already published a post, it's going to tell you some people have looked at this post. You can click on either one of those. If you go into and we're looking at the bottom left hand side here now, 'Interests', and you click 'Polls', what happens is it brings up a whole bunch of news feeds. You can also click 'Publish a Post' there.
Last but not least is if you are in your profile or even in the edit view of your profile, you're going to see your post and you have the ability to write a new post right from there as well. Posts are super simple. There's only five things that you really need to do with a post to get one out the door. First of all, you have to have a picture. One of my favorites is I'll create a PowerPoint presentation, and I'll take a screen picture or screenshot of the first slide or some slide and put it up as the picture or the image for the post, so it's an original picture.
Secondly, you need to write a headline, a catchy headline that's going to draw people in. Third, what you do is you put content together in this section down here which will allow you to get your thoughts out. Then, one of the things you need to do is you can add what they call 'Three tags'. If you start typing in here ... For example, if I'm talking about LinkedIn, I could put 'LinkedIn', and it will bring up LinkedIn as a tag or it will bring up LinkedIn marketing or a whole bunch of different things.
I can put in 'Marketing', and they will bring up marketing as a tag or marketing strategies. You just pick these and it's an easier way for people to find you. Then, last but not least, you know what? Hit 'Publish'. That's all you got to do. That in a bare bones minimum is the least you need to do to get a post published on LinkedIn.
Now, one of the things that I find that works really well is you can actually add pictures or movies into it. In this case, I can insert a picture. In this case it says, "Click here to sign up for our next LinkedIn selling success webcast." Then, what I do is once that's in the post, I highlight it or click on it, and then I click the link, and I put a link in, and it drives people through to a landing page where I can get their name and email. Think of it as a sales manager. If you guys have created some content and you have an ability to capture a name or email or drive people back to your website to capture a name or an email, this is an excellent way to be able to do that sort of stuff.
