HOW THE AMERICAN LABOR CRISIS CAN HELP YOU IMMIGRATE TO THE U.S.

The COVID-19 Pandemic not only has changed our lives for good but also drastically impacted global order and the economy of the most developed countries.?The U.S., for instance, is facing major labor shortages at the moment, as the pandemic has reduced legal work-related immigration by a third. In this article we will elaborate on this issue, trying to focus on the ways it could be solved, as well as explain how foreign workers can use the ongoing labor crisis in the U.S. to their advantage.?

The Most Impacted Industries in the United States that are suffering from the lack of professionals are manufacturing, healthcare, transportation, aviation and social assistance, and food sectors. Many employers are having a hard time finding enough workers.

At this point, the gap between the demand for labor and its supply is immense in the United States. With the record number of job openings hitting 11.2 million, there are only 5.7 million unemployed workers who might fill them. The declining number of immigrants allowed to legally work in the USA is one of the reasons that are driving labor shortages, the researchers say.

U.S. labor shortages

There are only two sources to get workers these days: the population the country already has or the population to be gained through immigration. To bridge the gap in its labor forces, the U.S. needs to attract more skilled workers from other countries. This opens the door of opportunities for many foreign specialists out there that are eager to jump in and give their career a fresh start full of new possibilities and achievements.

As the latest data suggests, about 14% out of 45 million people in the U.S. are foreign-born. Meaning, 1 in 6 U.S. workers is an immigrant. Some of the foreign-born workers are employed on a temporary basis. In other cases, these employees can obtain legal permanent residency – a well-known Green Card. Unlike some countries, the United States government does not issue work visas for casual employment. Work visas are based on a specific offer of employment, although there are some exceptions.??

Here are some of the options that can work for all the foreign-born professionals who want to immigrate to the U.S. and give a boost to their careers.?
