When I was a kid, and I went to my grandpa's house in Izard County, Arkansas, I got to watch shows that were not available to me at my house.
Grandpa lived at the end of the road, so sometimes we had to turn the antenna. We could get TV from Springfield, Missouri.
One of those was the Partridge Family. Big family, music, kids, single mom. What's not to love? They traveled around on a bus!
The one that I was most excited about was Batman. For whatever reason, I couldn't watch it at home.
Relax, this was the 70s. I was watching the Adam West and Burt Ward Batman with all the colorful characters.
It was a little cheesy, but I liked it nonetheless.
Can you tell me the origin of the Batman story??Sure you can! Everyone reading this email knows, loosely, how the story began.
Bruce Wayne, as a kid, was walking down the street after an opera performance with his mom and dad.
You know the rest. They encountered criminals who wanted his mom's pearls. His dad steps in and both end up getting shot. Suddenly, the future caped crusader, heir to a fortune, was an orphan.
Every Batman movie I have seen since has told the same origin story. They only changed a few minor details. Perhaps you read the original Graphic Novel and you are yelling at me right now to get it right!
Batman is one of the most iconic DC Marvel brands. He is memorable. His story lives on.
Founder's stories or origin stories are often used in Startups. It seems these days they aren't used as much as they were ten years ago.
As a kid, I turned to storytelling when I needed something to do. These are some of the things I did to play out my own stories.

The storytelling of Todd
As most kids, I had a pretty robust imagination. One time I made up my own post season college basketball tournament.
I also played many football games, winning them all by myself. Other times I was Dusty Rhodes, taking down the Funk brothers.
I turned the backyard into Wrigley Field, pretending I was Jody Davis, hitting the home run to win the game.
I got really interested in drawing, so one summer my mom got my art lessons at a lady in town's house. I loved it.
As a teenager, I wrote song lyrics. I would buy those old song magazines and pour through pages, looking for the lyrics. I even contemplated sending in some for a contest. No idea I may have. Now I have a friend who writes songs for a living in Nashville!
I guess I liked to make up my own stories.
