How AI Unleashes the Next Level of Human Potential

How AI Unleashes the Next Level of Human Potential

This is a moment for reinvention.

The information age is over and the race to understand human intent has begun. For the first time in history, we are reversing course—not by moving away from technology, but rather by embracing a new evolution of technology that is more human.

This means that technology is becoming increasingly intuitive, demonstrating more human-like intelligence, and turning easier to integrate across every aspect of our lives. If 2023 was the year of learning about AI, then 2024 will be the year of AI learning about human values and intentions.

Accenture’s Technology Vision 2024 report shows how AI is accelerating this evolution of technology. And how it opens new pathways for businesses to unleash greater human potential, productivity, and creativity. Enterprises that prepare now will win in the future.

For example, technologies like Generative AI are going beyond their scope of impact and transforming their potential to profoundly reshape organizations and markets. This evolution is starting to address key pain points between humans and technology, paving the way for greater human potential.

India – with a goal to become a 1 trillion-dollar digital economy by 2026 – has the potential to make the most of this evolution and reinvent industries and businesses, in the process. In fact, our research shows 94% Indian executives agree that making technology more human will hugely expand the opportunities of every industry.

Let’s look at the four critical 2024 trends, highlighted by the report, that are making technology more human-like – and examine key India insights in each of these.?

Reshaping our relationship with knowledge

We are witnessing an evolution of our interaction with information. Case in point: Human-like, AI-powered chatbots are synthesizing vast amounts of information and providing answers and advice. Also, with generative AI, a digital butler is finally in the cards.

To truly reap the benefits of generative AI and build the data-and-AI powered enterprise of the future, businesses need to radically rethink their core technology strategy. Almost 90% Indian business executives say generative AI can create a medium to high impact to their organization’s business processes in the next 3 years. And 98% of Indian executives believe generative AI will compel their organization to modernize its technology architecture.

This evolution is signaling a new digital core and will compel companies to modernize their technology architecture.

Ecosystems for AI

The second trend focuses on how, in the near future, AI-empowered agents could work on behalf of individuals and as part of an interconnected ecosystem.?AI is transitioning from generators of ideas to agents that can act together and complement humans to accomplish specific tasks.

As agents are promoted to become our colleagues and our proxies, we will need to reimagine the future of tech and talent together. Appropriate human oversight becomes critical in such a scenario.

96% of Indian enterprises agree that the capabilities of AI are expanding, moving from assisting to acting independently. The same percentage of people also note that leveraging AI agent ecosystems will be a significant opportunity for their organization in the next 3 years.

Creating value in new realities

The spatial computing technology landscape is rapidly growing. Spatial computing will let us build enriching experiences by combining our disparate realities and fusing the digital and physical together. It will change the ways people work and live, especially in the realms of learning, shopping, etc.

Advancing technologies like generative AI can make it faster and cheaper to build spatial environments and experiences. In fact, these technologies are already making a mark in industrial applications – like digital twins for manufacturing, VR/AR in training and remote operation, and collaborative design environments.

India is witnessing a growing consumer interest in this technology. Indian consumers are using or would be interested in using spatial computing technologies or devices today; 62% to learn and develop new skills and 55% to shop. Our research shows how 94% Indian organizations plan to create a competitive advantage by leveraging spatial computing.

A new human interface

The final trend points out that the challenge of technology not understanding us and our intent is disappearing. A suite of technologies – from eye-tracking to machine learning to brain-computer interfaces – are getting much better at interacting with humans on their level. 96% of Indian executives say human interface technologies will let us better understand behaviors and intentions, transforming human-machine interaction.

To succeed, enterprises will also need to address growing issues around trust and technology misuse. 97% of India businesses agree that human interface technologies, if built safely and credibly, are an opportunity to build more natural interactions with our products and services. ?

As we strive to make technology human by design, guardrails like security and ethics must be taken into consideration. This is a transformative moment for technology and people alike. Businesses have the opportunity to create strategies and AI-based solutions that erase the friction between people and technology and unleash a new, unprecedented level of human potential. This can collectively lay the foundation for what will quite possibly be the greatest era of human creativity and productivity the world has ever seen.
